Welcome Aboard the MS Caledonian Sky Formerly known as ‘Hebridean Spirit’, the MS Caledonian Sky will begin her new life with Noble Caledonia on 12 May 2012 and we are delighted to announce further details pertaining to the voyages she will be undertaking. No doubt many who sailed on her previously will remember her with great affection and for us she is the ideal partner for the MS Island Sky. Both were built in the same yard and at similar times and share the same excellent attributes that make them two of the finest small ships in the world. For the summer of 2012 she will be joining her sister vessel the MS Island Sky on a series of cruises around the British Isles and Ireland before venturing north to circumnavigate Iceland. We continue to Norway, sailing all the way along the breathtakingly beautiful fjord coastline to Tromso within the Arctic Circle. Before returning to the United Kingdom, she will undertake a cruise beyond the North Cape to Russia’s little known White Sea, a remarkable area where the highlight of the trip will be the remote Solovetsky Islands. The MS Caledonian Sky then ventures back to Iceland before crossing the Denmark Strait and exploring the western coast of Greenland before cruising along the eastern coast of Canada. We then make our way along the eastern coast of North America and our time there coincides with the spectacular autumnal scenery. On our way to the South Pacific where we spend Christmas and New Year we have just over two months of exploration in Central and South America where highlights such as Cuba, Costa Rica, traversing the Panama Canal and sailing along the Pacific coastline as far south as the Chilean Fjords are too numerous to mention. After spending the festive season in the South Seas, we cross to New Zealand for two cruises around the islands of this stunningly beautiful country and a voyage that sails from New Zealand to explore the remote beauty of Tasmania. Later in 2013 we also visit the Russian Far East with all its natural wonders before two cruises in the Great Land of Alaska where due to the size of our vessel we can explore the hidden bays and channels that the big ships just can’t access. If you like the MS Island Sky, we are sure you will also approve of her sister. And of course, it is important that we offer the very best of facilities. However, equally as important are the staff on board whether they are the vessel’s crew or our own expedition staff. Noble Caledonia’s reputation has been built on providing the very best in all areas. Our crew of 74 not only offer an excellent service they are also noted for their kindness and attention to detail. A well run ship with a warm atmosphere is what we are known for and it is because most of our crew have been with us for many years that we are able to engender such an atmosphere. Another hugely important factor is our expedition team and guest speakers, many of whom have been with us since our early days. They are in control of the day to day programme and shore visits and do their utmost to make every day special. Their knowledge, enthusiasm and warmth make every trip a unique event and unlike most cruise vessels, we rarely repeat the same itinerary. If you have travelled on the MS Island Sky, then you know all this to be true, but we seek to re-assure you that the same ethos will apply to the MS Caledonian Sky and we hope that you will soon have the opportunity to experience her for yourself.
