From the Youth Missionaries What a busy final term the youth have had! Both youth groups collaborated to put on a parish “FOP” - a Festival of Praise - a beautiful night of stirring worship music, testimonies, scripture and the screen debut of a fantastic movie starring members of ‘Tahu’ and ‘Lighthouse’. The two groups also enjoyed a joint venture to Chipmunks! We hired out the facility one evening and our youth slid and bounced and played without having to worry about trampling any little ones (except the Sealy tots). The theme for both youth groups this term was “Five Phrases That Will Change Your Life”. We had talks on the power of committing inspiring scripture to heart - of living by the mottoes of the great saints. Some of the phrases we covered included “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength!” “Be not afraid!” and “Jesus, I trust in You!” Page 24 December 2011 The girls’ group, ‘Girls and God’, enjoyed an overnight venture to Auckland. We visited the Cathedral, went ice-skating and stayed overnight at the Bombay Tyburn monastery. It was a fantastic trip. The boys’ group, ‘A Few Good Men’, took an afternoon trip to Oropi where they swam under the Gideon’s Valley waterfall, went strawberry picking and took lessons from
Master Chef Glen on the creation of chocolate covered strawberries. ‘Tahu’ went on retreat in Rotorua in July, which included a cross-walk through town in hand-made tee shirts. ‘Lighthouse’ partied in costume during an All Saints’ Day Progressive Dinner Party, which was intended to serve as a transitional event for the ‘Tahu’ graduates moving up to ‘Lighthouse’.
