Material processing was handled on a battery of
change can dispersers and a fixed tank 600
gallon disperser.
All
twenty-five (25) dedicated lines were run to
the change can filling station. (See Fig. 5)
Portable tanks were placed on the platform
scale. A
batcher was
installed to
control feed to
the tanks.
The operator
selected the
appropriate
raw material
and entered
the desired
weight. The
supplied PLC
interfaced to a
printer to
provide batch
tickets
indicating
the
raw materials

It was determined that only nine dedicated
product lines were needed at the 600 gallon
disperser. (See Fig. 6)
Load
cells were installed on the tank to provide
accurate mass measurements. Similar to the
change can system, material was charged to
the tank and batch tickets were automatically
generated.

The final labor saving unit installed was a
Hockmeyer CMX-100 tank cleaner. This tank
washer was used in cleaning all portable tanks
used in the manufacturing process. (See Fig.
7)
