STURT PEA FROM S.A. We are well on the way with the programs, and thank you to those who got them back to me on time. I hope everyone was as pleased as me to see the photo of our Junior Shooters on the front cover of the C.T.S.N. The following is the list of their names, although not in the correct photo order. GUN CLUB: Would like shooters to take note that due to an omission from the 1987 program book, they do have ~~-~ - a ~~ shoot ~~ ~ ~ ~ on ~ the 18th - - ~~ Sentember. - ~ Barhecue - at 12 - ~ noon ~~..-~ -~. followed by 5 targets El0 then 20 pair DID and 10 pair DIR. The following reports have been sent in to me. BARMERA Coming up soon they have their 30th Anniversary ahoot. The first meeting of the club being on the 23/4/58 with 14 shotgunners attending and Mr A. Grase was elected as chairman. A motion was moved at that meeting, by M. Mills, and seconded by J. Killmarten that a gun club be formed. Thie was duly carried. The first elected officers were as follows: President - A. Gmse. Secretary - Mr bgemuller, Treasurer - M. Mills. Committee - K. Germain, P. Schramm. J. Friman, J. Harris. After many meetings and working bees an opening shoot waa held on the 28th October. 1958, with a nomination list of 65 shooters. Caddy MOUNT GAMBIER - MARYBOROUGH It was this time off to Marybomugh for nine Mt Gambier shooters and some of their wives for another Team's Challenge competition. An excellent weekend by all accounts with Mt Gambier recording their biggest win ever. Those making the team were P. Green 40140, C. Wright 39/40. B. Spring 38/40. R. Simson 37/40 = 1541160, thus defeating Maryborough No. 1 team (see Marybomugh, I told you to watch out next time), their score being 1481160. Mt Gambier's total club score waa 3281360 which was 25 pints ahead of the top Maryborough club score. Mt Gambier twk home 13 trophies in all with P. Green winning the HIG as well as taking home, for the second time, the Jackpot prize - a nice purse of money. After dinner, Jim Shepherd's home was invaded by all for a game of 8-ball with Marybomugh being the victors. (See, they can't shoot but they can play 8-ball!!) On Sunday, Mt Gambier shooters did a bit of a U-turn and called in at St Arnaud for some more good scores. B. Spring and R. Simson shared the winnings in the PIS and B. Spring continued his excellent form to win the DIB defeating B. Rafferty from Maryborough and C. Wright fmm Mt Gambier. P. Green was the SIB winner and the only shooter to r e d 25/25. B. Spring came out on top over the day gainjng the HIG title. Page 14 The return challenge will be held at Mt Gambier in October. By P. Green.
