Comprehensive Combat and Complex Casualty Care (C5) at the Naval Medical Center San Diego<br />
C5 is a program of care that manages severely wounded, ill or injured patients from medical evacuation through inpatient care,<br />
outpatient rehabilitation, and eventual return to active duty or transition from the military.<br />
Program components include:<br />
Trauma Service--coordinates overall inpatient clinical management of injured service member<br />
Orthopedic, reconstructive plastic surgery, and wound care<br />
Amputee care, prosthetics, and rehabilitation<br />
Physical, occupational, and recreational therapy<br />
Mental health assessments and care<br />
Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) care<br />
Pastoral care and counseling<br />
Family support and career transition services<br />

The <strong>Gene</strong> <strong>Vance</strong> <strong>Jr</strong>. <strong>Foundation</strong> for Catastrophically Injured War Veterans (GVJF) is a privately funded 501(c)(3), not for profit,<br />
non-partisan all volunteer auxiliary organization serving military medicine and the wounded warrior. A world class resource of<br />
excellence focused on innovative solutions that help to optimize the leading edge of military medicine and advance medical<br />
science. Established in 2005, it is committed to transformational care of catastrophically injured veterans returning from Iraq and<br />
Afghanistan. The <strong>Foundation</strong> currently provides gratis support services and has symbolized a grateful nation since its inception<br />
seven years ago.<br />
