Kelly E. MacDonald, LPC, spent 10 years work<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> advertis<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong><br />
public relations, where primarily she marketed public health campaigns<br />
<strong>and</strong> other human service programs, before earn<strong>in</strong>g a master’s degree <strong>in</strong><br />
Counsel<strong>in</strong>g from the Department of Educational Leadership <strong>and</strong> Counsel<strong>in</strong>g,<br />
Old Dom<strong>in</strong>ion University, <strong>in</strong> Norfolk, VA. She is a Licensed Professional<br />
Counselor <strong>and</strong> a National Certifi ed Counselor. Her counsel<strong>in</strong>g<br />
caseload has <strong>in</strong>cluded children, adolescents, young adults, <strong>and</strong> families.<br />
She has practiced <strong>in</strong> residential sett<strong>in</strong>gs, academic environments, <strong>and</strong> outpatient<br />
sett<strong>in</strong>gs.<br />
William McNulty, LCSW-C, RPT-S, is a Licensed Cl<strong>in</strong>ical Social Worker<br />
<strong>and</strong> Registered <strong>Play</strong> Therapist-Supervisor. He works <strong>in</strong> Rockville, Maryl<strong>and</strong>,<br />
at the Reg<strong>in</strong>ald S. Lourie Center for Infants <strong>and</strong> Young Children<br />
as a therapist <strong>in</strong> the outpatient cl<strong>in</strong>ic <strong>and</strong> the Therapeutic Nursery Program.<br />
He has also been a board member of the Maryl<strong>and</strong>/District of<br />
Columbia <strong>Play</strong> Therapy Association s<strong>in</strong>ce 2003. He received his master’s<br />
degree <strong>in</strong> Psychology from Salisbury State University <strong>and</strong> his master’s<br />
<strong>in</strong> Social Work from the University of Maryl<strong>and</strong>, Baltimore. He wishes<br />
to thank his wife for her <strong>in</strong>terest, support, <strong>and</strong> guidance <strong>in</strong> writ<strong>in</strong>g his<br />
chapter.<br />
Beth Pickard, BS, earned her Bachelor of Science Degree <strong>in</strong> Education<br />
<strong>and</strong> Master of Arts <strong>in</strong> Education from Ball State University. She has<br />
taught general music <strong>in</strong> the Anderson Community Schools for 28½<br />
years, retir<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> 2000. Earn<strong>in</strong>g a master of science <strong>in</strong> Music Technology<br />
<strong>in</strong> 1998 from Indiana University, she taught various music classes <strong>in</strong> the<br />
IU School of Music <strong>and</strong> the IU School of Education at IUPUI 1997–2007.<br />
She directed the Young Scholars Program for the IU School of Education<br />
at IUPUI from 2001 to 2007 <strong>and</strong> served as the Music Technology Chair<br />
for the Indiana Music Educators from 1997 to 2007. Music has always<br />
been a very important part of her life <strong>and</strong> she plays the piano, the guitar,<br />
the cello, the mounta<strong>in</strong> dulcimer, <strong>and</strong> various other folk <strong>in</strong>struments.<br />
Robert Poole, BS, is the unit coord<strong>in</strong>ator of Program 1, “Field of Dreams,”<br />
at the Onarga Academy. He holds a bachelor’s degree <strong>in</strong> Psychology from<br />
Eureka College, alma mater of President Ronald Reagan. In 2007, Robert<br />
coauthored “A Super Milieu: Us<strong>in</strong>g Superheroes <strong>in</strong> the Residential Treatment<br />
of Adolescents With Sexual Behavior Problems,” a chapter <strong>in</strong> the<br />
volume Us<strong>in</strong>g Superheroes <strong>in</strong> Counsel<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong> <strong>Play</strong> Therapy (edited by<br />
Lawrence C. Rub<strong>in</strong>) . Little did he know that the weekly trips to the movies<br />
dur<strong>in</strong>g his high school years would cultivate the opportunity to use<br />
movies <strong>and</strong> pop culture to assist clients <strong>in</strong> his future career. Now as he<br />
watches movies, his m<strong>in</strong>d cont<strong>in</strong>ually fi nds messages <strong>and</strong> themes that can<br />
assist <strong>in</strong> client treatment.
