Milan: The Heart and Soul <strong>of</strong> Made in Italy<br />
For anyone craving<br />
new clo<strong>the</strong>s, good food, and<br />
an exciting weekend, Milan<br />
is <strong>the</strong> place to go. For <strong>the</strong><br />
incredibly ignorant, Milan is<br />
located in Italy, and is <strong>the</strong><br />
fashion capital <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> world.<br />
In <strong>the</strong> center, you can find<br />
all <strong>the</strong> shops that give Italy<br />
its reputation for fashion.<br />
The most famous street in<br />
Milan, Via della Spiga, is a<br />
small cobblestone street<br />
parallel to a much bigger<br />
Via Monte Napoleone. In<br />
<strong>the</strong>se two streets, <strong>the</strong> avid<br />
shoppers can find brands<br />
such as Gucci, Prada, Juicy<br />
Couture, Louis Vuitton,<br />
Tiffany’s, Dolce & Gabbana,<br />
Ralph Lauren, Balenciaga,<br />
Versace, and much, much more. Close to <strong>the</strong>se<br />
shops is a high end mall, La Rinascente, which is a<br />
condensed version <strong>of</strong> all <strong>the</strong> brands, plus perfumes,<br />
home & deco, and a hair dresser. On <strong>the</strong> top floor,<br />
<strong>the</strong>re are several restaurants, three <strong>of</strong> which are on<br />
<strong>the</strong> balcony, with an up-close view <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> intricate<br />
architecture <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> massive Duomo. However, if you<br />

Summer is approaching, and if you still don’t<br />
have any plans, surprisingly enough, you may want to<br />
consider going to a summer school. Milan is famous<br />
for two things: fashion, and AC Milan soccer team, and<br />
this city can provide you with <strong>the</strong> perfect opportunity<br />
to educate you in ei<strong>the</strong>r. If you’re an aspiring designer,<br />
and you’re over 18, spending three weeks in Milan<br />
at <strong>the</strong> Uptodate Fashion academy might just be<br />
<strong>the</strong> thing for you. Located in <strong>the</strong> heart <strong>of</strong> Milan, <strong>the</strong><br />
academy <strong>of</strong>fers courses in being a personal shopper,<br />
fashion make-up, fashion photography, and working<br />
in <strong>the</strong> fashion business. The courses last three weeks<br />
and classes are daily from Monday to Thursday. You<br />

If fashion is not your calling, and you prefer<br />
sports, <strong>the</strong> famous Milanese soccer club ACMilan,<br />
<strong>of</strong>fers several camps all over <strong>the</strong> world, including<br />
Milan. The camps start every Monday and can last<br />
one or two weeks. Mostly located in <strong>the</strong> outskirts <strong>of</strong><br />
Milan, <strong>the</strong>se soccer camps truly <strong>of</strong>fer a incredible way<br />
to advance in soccer and sportsmanship.<br />
If you only want to go to Milan for a few days<br />
and have no interest whatsoever in learning anything,<br />
<strong>the</strong>re are many concerts going on this summer. Of<br />
course, for <strong>the</strong> more cultural experience, <strong>the</strong>re are <strong>the</strong><br />
usual performances in <strong>the</strong> famous Teatro alla Scalla.<br />
However, this summer, Milan is packed with touring<br />
performers. Starting on June 18 with Depeche Mode,<br />
people in Milan will have <strong>the</strong> opportunity to see<br />
get tired <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> loud<br />
center streets, take a<br />
cab and go to Corso<br />
Como, a small quiet<br />
walking street which<br />
contains <strong>the</strong> famous<br />
shop, 10 Corso Como,<br />
a concept store with<br />
a gallery, bookshop,<br />
restaurant, and a<br />
collection <strong>of</strong> today’s<br />
most wanted brands<br />
such as Manolo<br />
Blahnik, Andy Warhol,<br />
and Lanvin. It is sure<br />

Milan is not necessarily always<br />
about designer shoes and expensive clo<strong>the</strong>s. If you<br />
want to buy more for less, head to Corso Buenos Aires,<br />
a huge boulevard with stores such as H&M, Oviesse,<br />
Zara, Nike, Foot Locker, Promod, and Adidas. All in<br />
all, Milan is <strong>the</strong> right place for anyone who needs to<br />
refresh or majorly overhaul <strong>the</strong>ir wardrobe.<br />

Summer in Milan: Learning is Fun!<br />
Fireworks on <strong>the</strong> night <strong>of</strong> Ferragosto<br />
Metallica, Katy Perry, Korn, Nine Inch Nails, Pink Floyd,<br />
U2, Madonna, Oasis, The Kooks, Enrique Iglesias, and<br />
many more through <strong>the</strong> summer season. Also, if you<br />
happen to be in Milan around August 15, you will most<br />
likely be witnessing <strong>the</strong> Ferragosto celebrations. Even<br />
though many shops are closed during this time, <strong>the</strong>re<br />
are many concerts and festivities going on.<br />
Whe<strong>the</strong>r your interests are fashion, soccer, or<br />
music, Milan is <strong>the</strong> heart <strong>of</strong> good times and <strong>the</strong> place<br />
to be this summer.<br />
