CHAPTER XIX<br />

STATEMENT BY MINISTERS ON MATTERS OF PUBLIC IMPORTANCE<br />

(RULE 110).<br />

Rule 110 of the <strong>Tamil</strong> <strong>Nadu</strong> <strong>Legislative</strong> <strong>Assembly</strong> Rules enables a Minister<br />

to make a statement on a matter of Public importance with the consent of the<br />

Speaker. There shall be no debate on such statement at the time it is made.<br />

During the period under Review, 61 Statements were made by the Ministers<br />

on various matters of Public importance and the details are shown in Section-II,<br />

Table No.XV (vide Page No.512)<br />

CHAPTER XX<br />

STATEMENT BY MINISTER UNDER RULE 111 OF THE<br />

TAMIL NADU LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY RULES.<br />

When any Statement made by a Minister on the floor of the House either by<br />

way of answer to a question (Main or Supplementary) or under Rule 110 or<br />

otherwise is found to be incorrect by the Minister, he may, with the permission<br />

of the Speaker, make a further statement under Rule 111 of the <strong>Tamil</strong> <strong>Nadu</strong><br />

<strong>Legislative</strong> <strong>Assembly</strong> Rules either in the same sitting or at any time thereafter.<br />

There shall be no discussion on such a statement at the time when it is made.<br />

The details of such statements made by Ministers during the period under<br />

review are as follows:—<br />

1. On the 20th March, 1997, Hon. Thiru K.N. Nehru, Minister for Food,<br />

Public Distribution System and Co-operation made a Statement under Rule 111<br />

of the <strong>Assembly</strong> Rules correcting his reply to the Question No.2712 raised by<br />

Tmt. Vasuki Murugesan on the 10th March, 1997.<br />

2. On the 24th April, 1997, Hon. Thiru Veerapandi S. Arumugam, Minister<br />

for Agriculture made a Statement under Rule 111 of the <strong>Assembly</strong> Rules<br />

correcting his reply to the Question No. 6240 raised by Thiru B. Venkatasamy<br />

on the 23rd April, 1997.<br />

3. On the 18th October, 1997, Hon. Thiru Veerapandi S. Arumugam, Minister<br />

for Agriculture made a statement correcting his reply given to the Supplementary<br />

Question to starred Question No.1879 (Sl.No.348) on the floor of the House on<br />

the 26th March, 1997.<br />

4. On the 22nd April, 1998, Hon. Thiru Veerapandi S. Arumugam, Minister<br />

for Agriculture, made a statement under Rule 111 of the <strong>Assembly</strong> Rules<br />

correcting his reply given during the discussion on Demands 20-Agriculture<br />

and 53-Capital Outlay on Agriculture on the 15th March, 1998.<br />

5. On the 19th May, 1998, Hon. Prof. K. Anbazhagan, Minister for<br />

Education, made a statement under Rule 111 of the <strong>Assembly</strong> Rules correcting<br />

his reply given to the Question No. 8868 raised by Thiru B. Ranganathan on the<br />

floor of the House on the 14th May, 1998.
