Message from Dieter Straka <strong>the</strong> 32nd 41 Intl.<strong>President</strong><br />
“Dear 41ers and<br />
readers!<br />
It seems to be just a<br />
few months s<strong>in</strong>ce I<br />
received <strong>the</strong> cha<strong>in</strong><br />
and was <strong>in</strong>augurated<br />
as <strong>President</strong>. But time<br />
is pass<strong>in</strong>g quickly and<br />
we have to prepare<br />
ourselves for <strong>the</strong> next<br />
term.<br />
What is go<strong>in</strong>g on <strong>in</strong><br />
<strong>the</strong> <strong>in</strong>ternational<br />
world of 41? We have<br />
developed many plans<br />
and now have to put<br />
<strong>the</strong>m <strong>in</strong>to action. I will<br />
try to give you a<br />
short overview.<br />
Firstly we have to<br />
make sure that our members<br />
understand <strong>the</strong> idea that 41<br />
is not just a friendship club<br />
for everybody – we are an<br />
organisation of former members<br />
of Round Table and<br />
o<strong>the</strong>r members should be<br />
exceptions and not an alternative<br />
<strong>in</strong> case we cannot<br />
f<strong>in</strong>d Tablers anymore.<br />
Secondly we want to<br />
streng<strong>the</strong>n our ties to RT to<br />
make sure we are an organisation<br />
<strong>the</strong>y want to belong<br />
to, once <strong>the</strong>y had to leave<br />
RT. My <strong>the</strong>me of <strong>the</strong> year<br />
“Remember <strong>the</strong> Roots” is<br />
<strong>the</strong> basis on which we want<br />
to build a stronger organisation<br />
for <strong>the</strong> Ex-Tablers. In<br />
41 INTERNATIONAL<br />
<strong>President</strong> Dieter<br />
that very direction we will<br />
try to get our members’<br />
support to change <strong>the</strong> name<br />
of 41 <strong>International</strong> <strong>in</strong>to<br />
“Round Table <strong>International</strong><br />
PLUS”. This will be a strong<br />
signal for RT and <strong>the</strong> world<br />
around us that we belong to<br />
each o<strong>the</strong>r.<br />
Thirdly we will propose to<br />
start with a work<strong>in</strong>g group<br />
to def<strong>in</strong>e <strong>the</strong> strategic future<br />
of our organisation. We do<br />
not want to only react to <strong>the</strong><br />
challenges of a develop<strong>in</strong>g<br />
and chang<strong>in</strong>g society around<br />
us. We want to build our future<br />
actively. Adopt-adaptimprove<br />
is still valid.<br />

Last but not least we<br />
want to allow s<strong>in</strong>gle<br />
clubs of Ex-Tablers – especially<br />
<strong>in</strong> small countries<br />
where only one<br />
club exists, or where it<br />
will take time to start<br />
three clubs as <strong>the</strong> m<strong>in</strong>imum<br />
for an Association<br />
- to become members<br />
by <strong>the</strong> way of affiliation<br />
to our organisation.<br />
As you can see <strong>the</strong>re is<br />
always work to do and<br />
chances to be made use<br />
of for <strong>the</strong> better of our<br />
wonderful organisation.<br />
