S5 UV Analyzer
Imagine...
Imagine a single instrument that
can analyze over a dozen different
kinds of assays.
Imagine being able to directly
detect individual cells as well as the
results of their cellular activity.
Imagine automatically analyzing
each well as it is scanned, making
plate analysis faster than ever before.
That dream is now a reality.
The S5 UV Analyzer is CTL’s top-of-the-line model, designed to support fluorescencebased
“FluoroSpot” assays, visible light assays (e.g. ELISPOT, plaque and colony
counting), cell cycle analysis, cell viability tests, apoptosis tests, and in vivo/in vitro
cytotoxicity measurements using cells labeled with fluorescent dyes. It also provides
exceptional speed for single-cell analysis applications—generating results up to 120
times faster than flow cytometry, for example, when performing rare event analysis.
The S5 UV machine provides unparalleled versatility. Its advanced design allows users
to readily alternate between the fluorescent and visible light modes and between a
variety of fluorescent filters. Up to twenty custom plate layouts can be stored, making
it even easier for researchers to switch back and forth between different types of
experiments.
Faster than ever!
Automatically scan and count an entire
96-well plate in as little as 90 seconds!

How does the S5 UV camera
provide image quality excellence
Fluorescent wells emit extremely low levels of light, thereby
requiring the use of highly sensitive cameras. Pixel resolution
is also important; however, when the resolution is too high,
the light-gathering elements become excessively small, thus
drastically reducing camera sensitivity.
The S5 UV cameras have been carefully selected to provide
the optimal balance between camera sensitivity and high
pixel resolution. In addition, their high degree of noise immunity
ensures clear, consistent images even under extreme
low-light conditions.
Excellence and convenience guaranteed
• Versatility: Allows UV excitation wavelengths to be fine-tuned for a wide spectrum of fluorochromes.
• Rapid switching: Readily switchable between multiple color filters and light sources
• Plate type support: Designed to work with white and clear plates with membranes as well as
transparent membrane-less plates
• AutoCentering: Automatically centers each well in both white and clear plates
• AutoLighting: Automatically adjusts the light settings for individual wells for optimal image quality
• FastScan: Fully automated, “walk away” scanning. Scan times as low as 90 seconds, depending
on plate format.
• Accurate well capture: 100% of the well bottom surface captured. Ensures that no spots are lost.
• Direct well sampling: Enables individual sampling of single wells in a plate
• Customized plate type creation: Allows users to customize their plate types and formats in a userfriendly
manner
• Autonaming mode: Automatically names plates as they are scanned
• Data trails: For each well, the plate name and well position, date, and time are recorded.
• GLP support: Readily used in a GLP environment
Each Analyzer comes with a full one-year
warranty. Warranty extensions are available.
