Requirements to Become a League Member All players must be 18 years of age or older. To become a roller derby league member, one must attend a try-out session and qualify to be on the fresh meat squad. While skating and practicing with the league, fresh meat players aim to hit required benchmarks, and will eventually be drafted to one of the league’s house teams. Basic skills: � Forward skating � Power stride (getting the most out of each push) � Gliding on one foot at a time � Crossovers � Balance � Squats <strong>Derby</strong> Skills: � Skating low � Plow Stop � T-stop � Blocking strength � Jumping Endurance: � 5 laps in 1 minute � 25 laps in 5 minutes Other: � Positive attitude � Basic knowledge of the sport � Willingness to listen and apply new knowledge
