THE FPH EXECUTIVE CLUB is a voluntary community organization supported by The Foothill Foundation at Foothill Presbyterian Hospital. No dues are asked of members, but leadership and participation in hospital and Foundation events are just some of the ways in which this group gives back to the community. OUR MISSION The mission of the FPH EXECUTIVE CLUB is to recruit, involve, and encourage leadership in the local communities to assist the hospital in various health education programs and services. PURPOSE The purpose of the FPH EXECUTIVE CLUB shall be to develop community support for FPH through the sponsorship of various activities and events designed to increase public awareness and support of the hospital as well as public interest in good health. The FPH EXECUTIVE CLUB shall promote better health care in the community by providing assistance in the various fundraising activities and events, which will enhance the quality of Foothill Presbyterian Hospital. ACTIVITIES The FPH EXECUTIVE CLUB provides volunteers and leadership for a variety of standing community outreach activities including the annual Spring Run, the annual FPH Golf Tournament, and the annual Barbecue/Raffle. Regular membership meetings of the FPH EXECUTIVE CLUB are designed for informational and educational purposes that allow members to get to know other volunteer, clinical, and executive leadership in the hospital and the community. JANE BRAUN . . . a founding staff member of Foothill Presbyterian Hospital “Don Adams wanted me to write a job description for my job, and it took me four months to do it because I was so busy.” JANE BRAUN Jane Braun: She pitched the press for Foothill Pres by Joanne Monroe “ Apassion for the arts has guided me through my life. As years have gone by, I’ve participated in things that have interested me, and the arts have been of paramount importance,” says Jane (Tessitor) Braun, a founding staff member of Foothill Presbyterian Hospital as its public relations manager. A founding member indeed, Braun was one of the first employees to work for the hospital prior to its opening in 1973. Answering a newspaper ad for the role of public relations coordinator, Braun was hired by FPH administrator Don Adams. “I worked out of my house for 18 months writing publicity while the hospital was being built, and was one of the first four staff members to move into the new building when it was nearly finished,” Braun recalls. Rounding out the foursome with Braun were Adams, his secretary, and Winifred Robertson, the first director of volunteers. Braun took charge of all of the publicity leading up to, and following, Foothill’s opening. “Once we opened our doors, I also handled the extra curricular activities, such as health fairs, flu clinics, open houses, Santa’s arrival by helicopter, Physical Therapy Day – all without a secretary or a computer.” During her 15-year tenure with the hospital, Braun’s additional tasks included most of the photography, designing and writing brochures, and writing the articles for the quarterly FPH NEWS – now known as Healthwise. More so, she wrote publicity pieces for organizations such as the FPH Men’s Club, Glendora Rotary Club, the Glendora Jaycees annual Spring Runs, and other activities with which the hospital was affiliated. “Don Adams wanted me to write a job description for my job, and it took me four months to do it because I was so busy,” remembers Braun.
