Prior to joining the Humane Society of
Charlotte, she was the Chief Executive
Officer of Asheville Humane Society
in Asheville NC for 10 years. She has
worked in all aspects of animal welfare
and sheltering – Sixteen years as an
Executive Director / CEO of non-profit
humane societies and five years of
prior management experience in a
large D.C. metropolitan animal shelter
serving a community of approximately
750,000 residents.
Ms. Moore is a Maryland native and had
the rare opportunity to return to her
hometown to serve as Executive Director
of the local humane society. She was
involved in getting a new state of the art
animal shelter built in that community.
While in Asheville, she was instrumental
in getting a monumental spay /
neuter law passed in Buncombe County,
North Carolina which contributed
to reducing shelter intake from 10,000
animals a year to 6,500. In 2009, under
her leadership, Buncombe County was
chosen as one of ten ASPCA partner
communities in their effort to reduce
euthanasia and increase the number of
animals’ lives saved through targeted
program efforts. She led the organiza-
