'lZ. Rev. Albert Bretschneider <strong>of</strong> <strong>Rochester</strong>,<br />

is general secretary <strong>of</strong> the German Baptist<br />

Young People's and Sunday School Workers<br />

Union <strong>of</strong> North America and in that work trav­<br />

el1ed 33,000 miles last year.<br />

Albert H. Covell, principal <strong>of</strong> Oneida High<br />

School, has been elected superintendent <strong>of</strong><br />

schools at Oneida, to take effect July 1st.<br />

' 13. A. A. Backhaus, production manager <strong>of</strong><br />

the U. S. Industrial Alcohol Company, <strong>of</strong> Baltimore,<br />

Md., recently returned from a six weeks'<br />

trip to the Pacific, where he started operations<br />

in a new plant at Los Angeles, which was purchased<br />

by the company a short time ago.<br />

Principal Benjamin H. Root, <strong>of</strong> the Attica<br />

High School, has been re-engaged for his seventh<br />

year by the Board <strong>of</strong> Education <strong>of</strong> Attica,<br />

N. Y.<br />

' 14. Dr. Avery A. Ashdown, research assistant<br />

at the Massachusetts Institute <strong>of</strong> Technology,<br />

presented a paper at the spring meeting<br />

<strong>of</strong> the American Chemical Society in Richmond,<br />

Va. The paper outlined the life <strong>of</strong><br />

James Mason Crafts, the co-discoverer with<br />

Charles Friedel <strong>of</strong> the Friedel-Crafts reaction.<br />

'15. Dr. Robert W. Angevine, <strong>of</strong> <strong>Rochester</strong>,<br />

was married to Miss Ruth Mildred El1iott, in<br />

<strong>Rochester</strong> on March 16. They are taking a<br />

European trip for two months and on their<br />

return wil1 live in <strong>Rochester</strong>.<br />

'16. Paul L. Hill and Miss Florence G. Otto<br />

were married in <strong>Rochester</strong>, on March Z5th.<br />

They are residing in this city.<br />

Louis E. Meinhardt, <strong>of</strong> <strong>Rochester</strong>, was married<br />

to Miss Marion Fischer at Germantown,<br />

Pa., on April 18, 19Z7.<br />

'20. Monroe A. Blumenstiel was married to<br />

Miss Julia Cohen at <strong>Rochester</strong> on February ZOth.<br />

Ex-'ZO. Herbert M. Gosnell has become engaged<br />

to Miss M. Elizabeth Brower, <strong>of</strong> <strong>Rochester</strong>.<br />

'Zl. Dwight Vandevate, <strong>of</strong> <strong>Rochester</strong>, has become<br />

engaged to Miss Helen 1. Hagood, <strong>of</strong> Evergreen,<br />

Ala., a former student at the Eastm an<br />

School <strong>of</strong> Music.<br />

'Z2. Theodore F. Fitch, director <strong>of</strong> the <strong>University</strong><br />

Glee Club, is the author <strong>of</strong> the musical<br />

accompaniment for Vachel Lindsay's poem,<br />

"General William Booth Enters into Heaven"<br />

and ha dedicated the music to Dean Hoeing.<br />

Mr. Fitch also acted as gue t conductor <strong>of</strong> the<br />

community chorus at Potsdam Normal School<br />

recently, directing Rossini's "Stabat Mater".<br />

Richard De Luc V�n De Carr has become engaged<br />

to Miss Dorothy Dix <strong>of</strong> <strong>Rochester</strong>.<br />

Ex-'ZZ. J. Frederick Colson has recently<br />

passed the State Bar Examinations and is with<br />

the law firm, Adler and Adler <strong>of</strong> <strong>Rochester</strong>.<br />

Gordon B. Harris was recently admitted to<br />

the bar and will practice law in <strong>Rochester</strong><br />

with Werner, Harris & Buck, with which firm<br />

he has been associated since February, 1926.<br />

We regret to note the death <strong>of</strong> James S.<br />

Havens, a prominent lawyer <strong>of</strong> <strong>Rochester</strong>, father<br />

<strong>of</strong> James D. Havens.<br />

'Z3. George A. Lang is now pastor <strong>of</strong> the<br />

German Baptist Church <strong>of</strong> Lorraine, Kansas.<br />

Oscar Loeser, Jr., is at present Aeronautical<br />

Engineer at the Langley Aeronautical Laboratory<br />

with the National Advisory Committee for<br />

Aeronautics, located at Langley Field, Virginia.<br />

Sympathy is extended to Earl Remington, over<br />

the death <strong>of</strong> his father, Frederick Brooks Remington.<br />

Franois E. Remington was one <strong>of</strong> eight <strong>Rochester</strong><br />

students to pass the State Bar Examinations<br />

recently.<br />

Ex-'Z3. Howard C. Spencer, junior member<br />

<strong>of</strong> the law firm, Spencer, Ogden & Spencer,<br />

<strong>Rochester</strong>, was married to Miss Glady M. Stapley<br />

at Geneseo, on April 2nd.<br />

George Weber is secretary <strong>of</strong> the Florida<br />

Forums, a civic organization <strong>of</strong> Daytona Beach,<br />

Fla., and is editor <strong>of</strong> the Forum News, a small<br />

paper in which activities <strong>of</strong> the Forum, and reports<br />

<strong>of</strong> speakers at the Forum, are printed.<br />

As president <strong>of</strong> 1he Community Players <strong>of</strong> Daytona<br />

Beach, Weber has di rected several productions<br />

<strong>of</strong> the Little 'I1heater <strong>of</strong> that city. The<br />

Florida Forum, now in its thirteenth season,<br />

is the largest forum in America. Mr. Weber<br />

has himself spoken before many local civic<br />

groups.<br />

Ann'a W. Hoare, mother <strong>of</strong> Elmer Hoare, <strong>of</strong><br />

New York.<br />

M. Walzer, mother <strong>of</strong> Elmer C. Walzer, <strong>of</strong><br />

New York.<br />

Rowland L. Sa nford, formerly connected with<br />

the Yawman & Erbe Mfg. Co., at Cleveland,<br />

Ohio, is now assistant sales manager <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Globe-Wernicke Department, Brooks Company,<br />

at Cleveland.<br />

'Z5. Max Gideonse is a graduate student in<br />

political science at Harvard <strong>University</strong>.<br />

'Z6. Rufus H. Hedges, former wel1-known<br />

Varsity athlete, has been el ected vice-president<br />

<strong>of</strong> the Square Compass Club <strong>of</strong> Harvard <strong>University</strong>,<br />

where he is taking a post-graduate<br />

course.<br />

Ex-'Z6. Frank B. Dugan, formerly with the<br />

S1romberg-Carlson Company <strong>of</strong> <strong>Rochester</strong>, is<br />

assistant overseer with the United Fru it Company<br />

at Costa Rica, C. A.<br />

Kenneth W. Hinds graduated from Col umbia<br />

<strong>University</strong> in February <strong>of</strong> th is year with a<br />

B. S, degree and is connected with the purchasing<br />

department <strong>of</strong> the Western Electric Company<br />

<strong>of</strong> New York.<br />

where, died at Minneapolis, Minn., July 6, 1926,<br />
