THIS WEEK FOR YOU
FEB 03 — FEB 09, 2012
1. ARIES
Your financial condition will be strong this
week, however same cannot be said of
your health. Partnerships, both professional
and personal, will flourish and
you shall gain financially out of them.
Travel is on the cards too. Trips to distant
lands will be far more rewarding than
domestic trips. Good progress on the business front is
also foreseen. Despite all this, the overall picture of your
life may not seem rosy to you. Health concerns may
plague you; you are advised to stick to the medications
you might have been taking. A complete health check up
is also advised, if need be, says Ganesha.
2. TAURUS
There are mixed fortunes ahead for you
this week, says Ganesha..
Professionally, you are doing quite well
and functioning at the desired level.
You may even win the accolades from
your bosses. But, your focus should be
more on your personal life, which needs
delicate handling currently. You should avoid confrontations
at any cost, and try your best to stay calm and
composed. In addition to this, you need to brace up your
tolerance levels, for there is not any other alternative
present for you. Be patient and remaining silent should
rather be your mantra for the week. This is definitely
going to help your relationship, so the effort is worth the
try.
3. GEMINI
This week, the luck will be in your favour,
something which will let you go on unabated
with all your activities with the least
effort. There is a piece of advice from
Ganesha, though - do not worry too much
about things; go with the flow. You need to get
rid of this annoying habit of cooking up negative fantasies.
While finances may cause you some concern at the beginning
of the week, they would be in a far better shape, by the
end of the week. Planetary configurations, though, indicate
that you need to take some initiatives on the professional
front. You may remain tense due to your health, but
Ganesha assures that it is nothing serious and certainly not
something worrying about much.
4. CANCER
There is a lesson in store for you this
week - in order to get things done your
way, you need to be a lot firmer with
people, without letting your emotions
come in the way. You will imbibe this lesson,
and there will be a palpable change in
your dealings with the people. Some people may perceive
you as cold and brutal, but you have Ganesha's
blessings on your side. Remember that this is not akin to
leaving your generosity behind - this is about practicality!
Despite all this, emotions may run riot, leading to an
inner turmoil. Take care, and try to focus on the job and
goals at hand. If you happen to be married, the desire for
physical intimacy will increase this week. In order to calm
your emotions down, you may turn to spirituality or even
occult sciences.
5. LEO
Since you have the habit of hogging in
the limelight everywhere, you may feel
insecure, when you observe that you are
no longer getting the avid attention of others,
this week. You may feel low on confidence,
and wonder if your charm has evaporated. Don't
worry, for all is not lost; it's a momentary phase. By the
grace of Ganesha, you will be back in your beloved limelight
by the weekend. Planetary configurations indicate
that you will end up spending significant amount of money
on entertaining people, but it will serve your purpose too.
At the beginning of the week, you may also feel a bit confused,
but the clarity shall be regained, as the week progresses.
Your near and dear ones will provide you with the
much needed moral support.
6. VIRGO
The week is good to participate in
recreational activities, meant to rejuvenate
your body and spirit. But, before
you take this well-deserved break-time
out, you better finish off the small, yet nagging chores
at home and work. These may include fixing up that
broken tube-light or getting the plumbing done in your
bathroom. Mundane? Yes, but very important! Post
that, you can take your sweet time to relax. Overall, the
time is not opportune to make long term plans, and it
would be better, if you restrict your planning span to
not more than two weeks. On the social front, you will
please everyone, given your charm. Just take care to
not offend anyone, as you go about preaching some
words of wisdom to one and all, says Ganesha.
7. LIBRA
Your creativity will be in its full swing, making
you rather relish all the opportunities
that come your way, both on public and
private stage. You yearn to showcase it
all, and you charm will be splendid! There
is a sincere advice from Ganesha, though -
go slow and remain extra careful, especially while driving
or at public places. Besides, on a different plane altogether,
you may realise that getting peace of mind is of prime
importance in life. Temptations are many, and you cannot
fulfil all your desires; this feeling may momentarily disturb
you. These temptations, however, are best avoided,
reminds Ganesha. This will bring you the much-needed
peace of mind.
8. SCORPIO
Emotions rule, as the week begins. Your
intuition too shall be very keen, bringing
you an ethereal feeling in all you attempt.
All this will make you long for a special
someone who will be compassionate
and caring enough. Turn to your loved
ones, says Ganesha! On the flip side, this
heightened sensitivity will also sensitise you to the surrounding
negativities, leaving you slightly flustered. Keep
your faith intact, and strive to replace the negativity with
the positivity. The transit of Saturn and North Node
through your sign, this time around may make you feel
lethargic. Also, with the entry of Mars in Pisces will make
you slightly careless or, shall we say ruthless, in love.
Take care, and avoid hasty commitments, at all costs.
Ensure that the person you choose is worthy of your love.
9. SAGITTARIUS
Stars send some love and romance your way. Time is also
favourable for forging long-term bonds, especially
marriage, says Ganesha. Besides, an
enhanced level of commitment in an existing
love relationship is likely. If nothing of
that sort happens, you may also embark
on a long-term academic/ educational journey
- research, activities related to reading/
writing all are likely. Amidst all this, your family affairs may
take a back-seat. You will also be overtaken by wanderlust,
and it is likely that you would not be able to resist the temptation
of visiting new places and exploring their culture, even
if it means an additional financial burden. Generally speaking,
the time is meant to be full-on fun! Make most of this rare
time.
10. CAPRICORN
You begin the week on a calm note, preferring
to keep to yourself. This low-key approach
may surprise some people, but their reaction
is unlikely to bring a change in your
mood. As you retreat to this shell of
yours, do take time out for introspection
and self-assessment, reminds Ganesha.
And, as you regard the current situation in your
life, remain objective and firm. Financial and family matters,
by the way, may become bothersome, around this
time. However, as the week progresses, you shall see
your efficiency surging, something that will help you clear
off all the pending tasks, and focus your energies on
attaining new goals. Once your hands are free, you will
start planning for your immediate future. Travel is on the
cards!
11. AQUARIUS
This week you may vie for space, both in your office and
at home. You will sense the negative vibes in
the atmosphere, and will be unable to perform
at the desired level. Ganesha advises
you to keep your cool, and not to get
involved in any kind of arguments with
your bosses or seniors. Same goes for your
home life; avoid clashes with the elderly. What
shall be truly frustrating for you now - is the fact that
despite your high confidence, you may be unable to move
things forward. However, one of your juniors may take
charge of the situation, and will rescue you from this mess.
Another bit of advice from Ganesha is not to express bitter
words for anyone, no matter what and how much the
provocation.
12. PISCES
The week brings for you a mixed bag of fortunes. While things
at the home will be happy, leaving you contended,
they may not be the same at the work
place. You may be loaded with work, and the
pressure to meet the looming deadlines may
leave you stressed. However, Ganesha
advises you to not to vent your frustration on
your near and dear ones. By the mid week, the
work pressure may take a toll on you so much that
you may contemplate taking a leave or a break. You may even
become bitter about your luck not supporting you. Relax and
count your blessings, instead of your troubles, reminds
Ganesha. Shun negative thoughts, and things shall get better
immediately!
The Internet, a revolutionary communications
system used daily by billions
of people the world over, turned
30 .The computer network officially
began functioning when it fully substituted
previous networking systems
Jan 1, 1983.
On that day, it was for the first time
that the American army switched to
use of the Internet protocol suite
(IPS) communications system, which
paved the way for the arrival of the
World Wide Web (www).
Based on designs by Welsh scientist
Donald Davies, the Arpanet net-
work began as a military project in the
late 1960s.It was developed at many
American universities, including the
University of California - Los Angeles
(UCLA) and the Stanford Research
Institute.
Shri. Abhay Bhushan one of the
first computer science graduates
from the Indian Institute of Technology,
(IIT) Kanpur, has done pioneering
work in the development of the
ARPAnet , He was recognized for his
contributions in 1994 at the 25th
anniversary celebration of the
ARPAnet.
In 1973, work on the IPS and
Transmission Control Protocol (TCP)
technology began. The new systems
made sure that the network was not
exposed to a single point of failure.
By Jan 1 1983, the substitution of the
older system for the new Internet protocol
had been completed and the
Internet was born.
British computer scientist Tim
Berners-Lee later used it to host a
system of interlinked hypertext documents
in 1989, known as the World
Wide G V Joshi writes on science
On October 4, 1957, the Russians
launched Sputnik, man’s first foray
into outer space, and the U.S. government
got worried about the Russians’
ability to launch a satellite, as
the same technology could be used
to drop a nuclear weapon on America.
The then President Eisenhower
immediately created the Advanced
Research Projects Agency (ARPA)
an aggressive military campaign –
cold war - to compete with and surpass
the Soviet activities. ARPA was
the U.S. government’s research
agency for all space and strategic
missile research for some years.
NASA was formed in 1958, and the
activities of ARPA moved away from
aeronautics and focused mainly on
computer science and information
processing.
One of ARPA’s goals was to connect
mainframe computers at different
universities around the country
and the defence establishments, so
that they would be able to communicate
with each other quickly in case
of a war, using a common language
and a common protocol. Thus was
born the ARPAnet - the world’s first
multiple-site computer network in
1969. The original ARPAnet eventually
grew into the Internet.
The Internet has a number of possible
‘birthdays’. On September 2,
1969, Len Kleinrock, a computer scientist
and his team at the University
of California at Los Angeles (UCLA)
- the midwives for the Internet - connected
two computers kept side by
side with a short cable. The data
these computers exchanged was tiny
and meaningless - merely a test message
- but it prepared the ground that
eventually grew into the Internet.
About a month later on October
29, 1969, the UCLA computer was
connected to one at Stanford
Research Institute (SRI), Palo Alto,
California and the first message ever
to be sent on the Internet was sent
successfully from UCLA to SRI.
When it comes to the birth of the
Internet, Jan. 1, 1983, also has its
supporters. On that date, the American
A medium-pacer from Amroha UP, Shami Ahmed
made his first-class debut in 2010 against Assam,
picking up three wickets. He has enjoyed more success
in the domestic Twenty20 format, having
played eight games, picking up 14 wickets with a
best haul of 4 for 24. He was signed by Kolkata
Knight Riders for the 2011 Indian Premier League
In the aftermath of good performance in the domestic season, he was
selected for the West Indies-bound India A squad in 2012. He shared a match
winning partnership of 73 runs for the 10th wicket with Cheteshwar Pujara during
India A's unofficial Test match against the West Indies A in June 2012.
In Ranji Trophy 2012-13 match against Hyderabad in a green top at Eden
Gardens, he took 4/36 and 6/71, and scored 15* from 6 balls in the 2nd innings
to help his side win the match by 4 wickets, along with Wriddhiman Saha. He
also took 7/79 and 4/72 against Madhya Pradesh at the Holkar Cricket
Stadium in Indore in Ranji Trophy 2012-13, but in spite of that his side lost the
match by 138 runs. It included a hat-trick in the 1st innings to wipe out the tail.
International Career
As a result of his good performances in the domestic matches, Shami
Ahmed was selected for India's ODI series against Pakistan replacing his
Bengal teammate Ashok Dinda and subsequently made his debut in the third
ODI at Delhi on January 6, 2013. He returned tidy figures of 1/23 from 9 overs
in a low-scoring game that India won by 10 runs.
A strange mixture of American
Army’s money, developments in computer
science and engineering as
well as scientific expertise slowly
brought on the ARPAnet or Internet,
as we know today.
Internet is the short form for International
network and is considered
as a proper noun. It is international
because it is a global network connecting
millions of computers. More
than 130 countries including India are
linked into exchanges of data, news
and opinions.
Use of the term “Internet” to
describe a single global network of
computers originated in December
1974 with the publication of the first
full specification of Transmission
Control Protocol (TCP) that was written
by Vincent Cerf, Carl Sunshine
and Yogen Dalal, an Indian computer
engineer from Indian Institute of
Technology (IIT) Mumbai and Ph. D
in computer science from Stanford
University, California No one person
invented the Internet. It was a collaborative
effort.
Leonard Kleinrock was the first to
publish a paper about the idea of
packet switching, which is essential
to the Internet. He did so in 1961.
J.C.R. Licklider was the first to
describe an Internet-like worldwide
network of computers, in 1962. He
called it the “Galactic Network.”
Larry G. Roberts created the first
functioning long-distance computer
networks in 1965 and designed the
Advanced Research Projects Agency
Network (ARPAnet), the seed from
which the modern Internet grew, in
1966.
Bob Kahn and Vincent Cerf invented
the TCP which moves data on the
modern Internet, in 1972 and 1973. If
any two people “invented the Internet,”
it was Kahn and Cerf - but they
Keeping their commitment and tradition
of giving Jammuites a continuous
change, this time they have come
up with a unique upscale casual dining
restaurant "The Terrace" Sky Lounge
.The restaurant opened on 26th January
2013 and located at 06th floor with
an idea to provide Jammuites an
exceptional dining experience. To consistently
exceed the ever increasing
expectations, they have tried to present
the people of Jammu out of the
world experience, the unique ambience
and contemporary style with the
joy of new concept in fine dining.
"The Terrace" Sky Lounge is the
first of its kind in India with an unique
concept "Roll A Roof", a system in
which the restaurant can open or close
to sky with just a press of a button.
The Terrace will deliver an authentic
yet innovative restaurant, with a
mean that honors tradition while reinventing
it, elegant and comfortable
with a sumptuous décor awash in the
hue's of Indian signature, hip but
accessible, with a vibrant Terrace
Restaurant where sophistication
meshes seamlessly with style.
They believe a restaurant should
live up to its name, it is after all, a place
to have an unforgettable experience
have publicly stated that “no one person
or group of people” invented the
Internet.
Sometimes referred to as a “network
of networks,” the Internet
became visible to the general public
in the early 1990s. By the beginning
of the 21st century approximately 360
million people, or roughly 6 percent of
the world’s population, were estimated
to have access to the Internet. It is
widely assumed that at least half of
the world’s population will have some
form of Internet access by 2015.
All good things also have some
holes and the Internet is not an excep-
tion.
The pornographic content is a
sure hazard for children and adolescents.
In case you have a personal
computer or a laptop at home with the
Internet facility, use some locking
device like a ‘password’, so that no
one can use the computer in your or
your spouse’s absence.
Keep a watch while your children
are using the Internet for doing their
homework.
The problem is not yet serious in
India because computers are still
expensive and beyond the reach of
the common man. However, it will
assume the form of an epidemic with
rising incomes. It is better to be forewarned
and forearmed.
The world has definitely changed
due to the Internet’s ability to communicate
with ease from practically any location.
In a few short decades, the internet
has grown from a network of a few
dozen computers to practically connecting
the entire world’s population.
