Residents of Raiyar village in<br />

Central Kashmir's Budgam district<br />

<strong>to</strong>day protested against the<br />

Sarpanch of the area alleging that<br />

he has resorted <strong>to</strong> embezzlement<br />

in the developmental funds meant<br />

for the village.<br />

The protesters also accused the<br />

Sarpanch namely Mohammad<br />

Maqbool Mir of beating up his<br />

nephew and a RTI activist after<br />

they raised voice against embezzlement<br />

of the funds. The protesters<br />

alleged that the Sarpanch has<br />

embezzled the funds meant for the<br />

IAY and MGNREGA schemes.<br />

The residents alleged that the<br />

Sarpanch was having some illegal<br />

weapon in his possession due <strong>to</strong><br />

which the villagers don't dare <strong>to</strong><br />

raise voice against him.<br />

"We are requesting the Chief<br />

Minister, Omar Abdullah <strong>to</strong> help<br />

us in getting rid of him otherwise<br />

we won't have any other option<br />

than <strong>to</strong> leave the village," said<br />

Raja Begum, sister of the<br />

Sarpanch.<br />
