Protest against Sarpanch

SRINAGAR, Feb 2:
Residents of Raiyar village in
Central Kashmir's Budgam district
today protested against the
Sarpanch of the area alleging that
he has resorted to embezzlement
in the developmental funds meant
for the village.
The protesters also accused the
Sarpanch namely Mohammad
Maqbool Mir of beating up his
nephew and a RTI activist after
they raised voice against embezzlement
of the funds. The protesters
alleged that the Sarpanch has
embezzled the funds meant for the
IAY and MGNREGA schemes.
The residents alleged that the
Sarpanch was having some illegal
weapon in his possession due to
which the villagers don't dare to
raise voice against him.
"We are requesting the Chief
Minister, Omar Abdullah to help
us in getting rid of him otherwise
we won't have any other option
than to leave the village," said
Raja Begum, sister of the
Sarpanch.
