Changing subscriber categories from the
operating centre
trol system ANA 30 by means of alarms
and printouts administered by the operation
and maintenance processor,
OMP.
Faults in the switching system can also
be found with the aid of ANA 30, since its
printouts show the switching processes
in the form of digits and control signals.
Other printouts specify the device
groups that exceed the permitted error
level limits (STU, KS, KM). These printouts
can indicate faults in the switching
system and the network.
After the introduction of ANA 30 it has
also been possibleto keep the switching
system in better condition than before,
since the latter system has gradually
been adjusted to the exacting signalling
and time conditions that apply for
ANA 30.
In spite of the fact that ANA 30 gives detailed
fault information, the supplementary
fault reports from the subscribers
are of importance, for example
when there is a fault in the signal reception
from the push-button sets.
Experience from ANA 30 in Arhus
Centrum shows that after a running-in
period the system is very reliable. The
operational statistics show that the duplication
of most of the function units in
ANA 30 ensures that large operational
disturbances are to all intents and
purposes eliminated.
Saving in personnel
By the middle of 1978 115 000 lines in
the Arhus area were connected to
ARE 11 exchanges with ANA 30. If these
subscribers were to have been served by
ARF 100 instead, 21 technicians would
have been required for the operation
and maintenance of the exchanges, not
including the MDF staff.
It is estimated that after the modernization
with ANA 30 the number of technicians
required will be reduced to 18, a
saving of 3. Furthermore it is expected
that the staff will be kept at this number
during the coming years despite the fact
that the number of subscribers is expected
to increase by 8 % annually.
In addition there is a saving of 1/2 man
year per year because such administrative
tasks as category changes, route
changes etc. are carried out by means of
commands.
