The WORLD CONGRESS ON HIGH TECH CERAMICS is a special edition of the
well known CIMTEC series of meetings, organized with the close cooperation and
involvement of major ceramic professional associations in the world. The Congress
will provide the international scientific community and industry an interdisciplinary
forum focussed on the multifaceted problems and emerging trends in the science
and in the processing of advanced ceramics as well as the horizons this unique class
of material is opening to the development of modern high technology systems and
new areas of application.

Ceramics in medical devices
The aim of the Symposium is to review the progress and prospectives in bioceramic materials.
Major scientific aspects of materials preparation and characterization, and processing methods as
well as bioengineering applications will be reviewed. Primary interest will be on implantable
materials such as alumina, aluminates, hydroxy apatites, glasses and glass ceramics, graphite
and vireous carbon and in ceramic sensors and transducers used in biomedical devices.
