and how wonderful the people are.
—Q: Have you visited any cities
in Spain outside of Madrid?
—S: I’ve only been to Valencia,
but I plan on traveling to more cities
in the future.
—Q: Do you miss Canada?
What do you miss the most?
—S: Yes, I miss my family and
friends. I also miss peanut butter.
—Q: Do you like the high
school, teachers, students …?
—S: Yes, I like everybody.
—Q: What do you think about
the bilingual system?
—S: I think it is a wonderful opportunity
to learn a second language
while you are still in school.

—Question : What motivated
you to come to Spain, and why
didn’t you choose another country?
Was Spain your first option for
travelling?
—Cameron: Well, the job in
Spain seemed like the perfect job for
me. I had never been to Europe be-
fore and I wanted to improve my
Spanish. At the beginning I also
thought about going somewhere in
South America, but finally I decided
to come to Spain.
—Q: Which studies or other
jobs have you had? Have you always
been dedicated to education?
—C: I have had a lot of jobs, most
of them with young people. Some of
them were related to education but
not all. I have worked with homeless
teenagers. I went to college two
times, one time to study politics and
another to study teaching.
—Q: Do you think Spanish people
and people from the United
States are very different? What are
the main differences in your opinion?
Have they been a problem for
you?
—C: I think they are only a little
bit different because in other travels
I´ve done the people were much
more different than the people in
Spain. Of course there are differences,
but I wouldn’t call these differences
problems, but gifts,
because life here is more relaxed,
and I like getting to know other cultures.
—Q: What are your hopes or
plans to the future? Are you going
to spend more time in Spain?
—C: I hope to be here next year
because I like the school a lot. I also

want to teach somewhere else in the
world before returning to my home.
—Q: What’s your opinion about
the bilingual system at this center?
—C: I think it is an amazing opportunity
for the students, and I’m
excited to make improvements next
year.
—Q: Some parents think that
the number of subjects in English
may be too much, being more numerous
than the ones in Spanish.
What do you think? Do you think
it’s good for us or is it excessive?
—C: I think that in order to learn
a language you need the maximum
amount of exposure to it, so if learning
English is a big priority, then the
number is good.
—Q: Do you practice any
sports?
—C: Yes, many. More than anything
I’m a climber, but anything that
gets me out in the natural world is
good.
—Q: Since you arrived in Spain
have you felt accepted?
—C: Very much so!!!
—Q: Do you like to teach us?
—C: Yes, I like to teach you because
the students here are motivated
and all of my teaching partners
are great.
—Q: What’s your level of Spanish
from 0 to 10?
—C: I would say a 5, but it was a
3 when I first came!!
