alparaíso invita a embarcarse, a imaginar realidades adversas, a redescubrir el entramado
urbano que lo distingue y lo hace único. En Valparaíso logran reencontrarse la urbe con el mar,
a través de sus miradores, anfiteatros naturales que presentan de manera sublime a esta
ciudad de contrastes. Un recorrido que se puede comenzar por el mirador “Paseo 21 de mayo”,
para luego bajar al plan y subir en el ascensor “Turri” para llegar al “Paseo Gervasoni” y su
vecino, el “Atkinson”, y continuar la contemplación sobre uno de los cerros más emblemáticos: el
“Concepción”.
Su borde costero, cuna y desarrollo de la mística de Valparaíso, representa un hito transversal para los
porteños, se inserta en el imaginario colectivo y es la esencia de la memoria histórica de la ciudad-puerto. En
sus calles aún se logra percibir el esfuerzo de su gente, la lujuria de sus marineros, el arraigo de las colonias
extranjeras que enamoradas de este “Pancho” nunca fundado, se asentaron en su seno para integrarlo y
construir su particular historia.
Otrora Joya del Pacífico, desde su borde emblemático se gesta un pasado glorioso que decae por los
avatares de la negación y el silencio post-modernista, pero que renace cíclicamente con fuerza, tesón y
gallardía.
Valparaíso es patrimonio por su gente, por sus calles, por su incertidumbre, por su pasado, todo lo cual
lo engrandece y catapulta, hacia un presente que cautiva a quien quiera venir a cimentar su propia aventura.

alparaiso invites you to embark, to imagine adverse realities, to rediscover the urban grid that
distinguishes it and makes it unique. In Valparaiso, a major city meets the ocean through its
scenic lookouts and natural amphitheaters that present this contrasting city in a sublime way.
One route can begin at the “Paseo 21 de mayo” scenic outlook to later descend downtown and
go up the “Turri” inclined hillside lift, or funicular, to arrive to “Gervasoni Walkway” and its
neighboring “Atkinson Walkway” and thus, continue with the scenic viewing over one of the most emblematic
hills: “Concepción Hill”.
Its coast line, birthplace and area of development of Valparaiso´s mysticism, represents a key public
space for locals. It is inserted in the collective imaginary and it is the essence of the historical memory of the
port city. On its streets you can still feel its people´s perseverance, its sailors´ lust, and the entrenchment of
foreign immigrant communities that, once in love with this never discovered “Pancho”, settled in its center to
be part of it and build its peculiar history.
Jewel of the Pacific of yesteryear, from its emblematic seaside there is a glorious past that falls upon
the vicissitudes of denial and the post-modern silence but that cyclically revives with strength, tenacity and
striking appearance.
Valparaiso is heritage because of its people, its streets, its uncertainty, its past, and everything that
makes it grow in stature and catapult it towards a present that captivates whomever wishes to strengthen
their own adventure.
