PULPOS OCTOPIDOS (P.BLA 30/7/08 11:53 Página 712 La luz y otros factores influyen notablemente en los procesos <strong>de</strong> madurez sexual <strong>de</strong> los cefalópodos, por lo que los resultados obtenidos en laboratorio en ocasiones no son aplicables al resto <strong>de</strong> la población natural, pero sí pue<strong>de</strong>n ofrecer estimaciones <strong>de</strong> interés cuando se mantienen niveles similares a los hallados en el medio natural. Durante los meses <strong>de</strong> septiembre y octubre se observa un reclutamiento <strong>de</strong> ejemplares que se incorporan a la población explotada por la pesquería. Este primer grupo se origina, presumiblemente, a partir <strong>de</strong> <strong>de</strong>soves <strong>de</strong> hembras <strong>de</strong> crecimiento lento que realizan las primeras puestas en la época <strong>de</strong> reproducción. Un segundo pico <strong>de</strong> reclutamiento se <strong>de</strong>tecta durante los meses <strong>de</strong> enero y febrero, originado por ejemplares <strong>de</strong> crecimiento rápido que <strong>de</strong>positan sus huevos al final <strong>de</strong> la época <strong>de</strong> puesta. El pulpo almizclado se captura como especie acompañante en la pesquería <strong>de</strong> arrastre <strong>de</strong> fondo y en años recientes (1996-2000) los <strong>de</strong>sembarques <strong>de</strong> esta especie en puertos españoles alcanzaron 100 tm anuales en promedio, con máximos entre los meses <strong>de</strong> enero y abril. Se trata <strong>de</strong> una especie sumamente apreciada en algunas zonas <strong>de</strong> la costa oriental <strong>de</strong>l Mediterráneo y mar Adriático. LOS MOLUSCOS 712
