Hutchison, que ladescribió.Plantas solitarias, tallos globoso-aplanados a columnarancho, verde-gris, 15 cm. de alto, 10 cm. de diámetro, 7 a12 costillas anchas, aplanadas con surcos transversales; 0a 5 espinas negro-marrón, curvas, flexibles y desprendiblesde 3 cm. de largo. Flores angostas, infundibuliformes de 8a 10 cm. de largo y 4 a 5,5 cm. diámetro, zigomorfas, rojonaranaja.Frutos globosos, pilosos, de 2 cm. de diámetro.Distribución: Bagua, Amazonas, 400 a 1 000 msnm.1.
