Guanajuato
Ciudad de augusta belleza y capital del estado del mismo
nombre, debe su aspecto a la intensa actividad minera que
desde la época virreinal ha tenido lugar en la región. Guanajuato
es considerado uno de los conjuntos arquitectónicos más
bellos del mundo, que en su momento la denominó “Roma de
América”, Alejandro Von Humboldt. Además de sus famosos
callejones, existen numerosos edificios monumentales como,
el Teatro Benito Juárez, la Alhóndiga de Granaditas, la cripta
del panteón municipal y la Universidad de Guanajuato donde
se exhiben las famosas momias. Destaca igualmente el monumento
del Pípila, uno de los símbolos de la ciudad.
En Guanajuato existe un sinfín de mercados de artesanías, en
donde se pueden admirar diversas piezas locales de alfarería:
orfebrería; esculturas en cantera y figuras de momias, elaboradas
con dulce de charamusca, muy típicas de la región.

In Guanajuato there are countless handicraft markets,
where you can admire various local pottery pieces: goldsmiths,
quarry sculptures and mummy figures, made with
charamusca sweet, very typical of the region.
