* The diameter of the log is indicative: a small log can be difficult to split if it has
knobs or a particularly tough fible. On the other hand, it may not be difficult to split
logs with regular fibers even if its diameter exceeds the max. figure indicated in the
above technical data.
It is important not to insist when the log does not split on the first attempt,
as the pump may be damaged by the overheating of the oil when the
machine is made to work under the maximum stress in the attempt to split
excessively hard wood.
3. SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Important: please read and observe the following safety instructions before
using the machine.
Never attempt to tamper with the protections of the log splitter or to operate
the machine without these.
Always follow up the safety regulations as follows to avoid injuries,
damages or accidents:
• The machine must always be used by one operator only.
• Nobody must be allowed to use the log splitter unless they have read the
instruction manual and have been instructed in the regulations to follow for
correct and safe use.
• The machine must be used by adults only. Use of the log splitter by apprentices
of not less than 16 years of age must be supervised by an adult authorised to
use the machine.
• Keep children and visitors away from the working area.
• Do not wear loose clothing or neckties that can get caught in moving parts.
Wear safety goggles at all times. Nonslip footwear is recommended. Wear
protective hair covering to contain long hair.
• Do not use the log splitter in wet or damp areas or expose the machine to rain.
• Do not use the machine in areas where fumes from paint, solvents or
flammable liquids pose a potential hazard.
• It is prohibited to work with the machine on the ground. This is not only an
uncomfortable working position, but it can also be dangerous because the
operator has to bring his face close to the machine, and thus risks being struck
by chips or debris.
• Put the log splitter on a 60-75 cm high, stable, flat and level work bench
where there is plenty of room for handling and help the operator stay allert. Bolt
the log splitter to the work surface if it tends to slip, walk or slide. Keep your
work area clean and well lighted.
• Check that the logs to be split are free from nails or wire, which may fly up or
damage the machine.
