journée exceptionnelle, remplie de rires et de plaisir.
Sur une toute autre note, les « abeilles laborieuses »
du Département de récréologie - conjointement avec
l’équipe de dialyse - ont lancé en octobre dernier une
nouvelle publication intitulée « Le Grand D ». Il s’agit
d’un bulletin d’information bilingue qui se décline sur
quatre pages en couleur ; il est destiné essentiellement
aux patients de dialyse et à leurs familles. Le Grand
D sera publié quatre fois par année – soit à tous
les trois mois ; on y retrouve plusieurs rubriques
intéressantes telles que : des questions de sécurité, des
extraits de blogues traitant de problématiques reliées
aux personnes souffrant d’insuffisance rénale, des
recettes adaptées, une section « saviez-vous que… »,
ainsi qu’une partie un peu plus ludique contenant des
devinettes et des jeux. Ce bulletin est non seulement
POUR les patients mais il est également fait en partie
PAR les patients car ceux-ci contribuent activement à
l’élaboration de son contenu.
Les services de récréologie sont fiers de contribuer
activement au bien-être des patients du CHSM et
continuent sans relâche à mettre de l’avant des stratégies
et des activités au sein d’une équipe multidisciplinaire
de soins.

What’s New in Dialysis?
The Recreational Therapy department
at St. Mary’s Hospital Center
participated in the organization of a
Holiday Celebration that was held on
Sunday, November 25th for the dialysis
unit. All patients, their guests, staff and volunteers had
a fantastic time!
Patients enjoyed a scrumptious meal served by the
dialysis unit employees who have been generous to
come in on their non-working day to offer their services.
Then, several participants put on their dancing shoes
and danced away to the tunes of the holiday season.
Finally, Mr. and Mrs. Claus arrived directly from the
North Pole to deliver gifts to all patients, whether they
were naughty or nice!
In short, this activity proved to be a great success.
Patients, dialysis staff and all other participants were
very grateful to have had the opportunity to enjoy this
special day, filled with laughter and fun.
On a different note, the “working bees” of the
Department of Recreational Therapy - together with the
dialysis team - launched last October a new publication
entitled “The Big D”. It is a bilingual newsletter that
comes in four color pages and is intended primarily for
dialysis patients and their families. ‘’The Big D’’ will
be published four times a year - every three months,
there are several interesting topics such as safety issues,
excerpts from blogs covering issues related to persons
with renal insufficiency, adapted recipes, a section “Did
you know that ...” and a part containing a little more
fun such as: riddles and brain teasers. This newsletter
is not only FOR patients but it is also partly done
BY patients because they actively contribute to the
development of its content.
Recreational Therapy services are proud to actively
contribute to the well-being of patients at SMHC
and continue tirelessly to put forward strategies
for therapeutic recreation activities within a
multidisciplinary health care team.
