Celebrating its 40th edition, The Saint Barthélemy
Music Festival once again welcomes renowned
musicians to the island. In a year of passing the baton,
the festival takes place January 15-21, 2024.
Pour sa 40ème édition, le Festival de Musique de
Saint Barthélemy accueille comme chaque année des
musiciens de renom. Placé sous le signe du partage et
de la transmission, il se tient du 15 au 21 janvier 2024.

DeBroff, The Saint Barthélemy Music Festival is “the
oldest and largest of the cultural events on the island
of Saint Barthélemy,” points out Corinne Hennequin, the new
president of the association that produces the event. Every
year, in the month of January, it features the best musicians
from the world’s most important symphonic orchestras. With
musicians flying in from New York, Chicago, Philadelphia,
California, Germany, England, France, Japan, Israel, and Brazil,
the 40th edition runs from January 15-21, 2024, with 40
musicians, opera singers, and conductors forming a unique—and
ephemeral—symphony orchestra in the Caribbean.
In 2023, the festival hosted Israeli-American violinist Gil
Shaham Shaham, who according to France Musique is “one
of the most eminent violinists of our time.” In 2024, festivalgoers
will be able to appreciate the sounds of Fabio Brum, an
acclaimed trumpet soloist and the newest member of Canadian
Brass, named by France Musique as the most well-known
brass quintet in the world. Internationally acclaimed Bulgarian
conductor Delyana Lazarova, who served as assistant conductor
to Sir Mark Elder at the Hallé Symphony Orchestra (Manchester

Saint Barthélemy », souligne Corinne Hennequin, la nouvelle
Présidente de l’association qui le porte. Il réunit chaque année
au mois de janvier les meilleurs musiciens des plus grands
orchestres de musique Classique au Monde, venus de New
York, Chicago, Philadelphie, Californie, Allemagne, Angleterre,
France, Japon, Israël, Brésil… Ainsi du 15 au 21 janvier 2024,
la 40ème édition verra 40 Musiciens, Chanteurs d’Opéra et
chefs d’Orchestre former un Orchestre Symphonique unique
dans les Caraïbes.
L’édition 2023 avait vu accueillir notamment Gil Shaham,
Violoniste israélo-américain qui selon France Musique est
« l’un des violonistes les plus éminents de notre temps ». En
2024, les participants auront la chance d’apprécier la cheffe
d’Orchestre bulgare Delyana Lazarova, nommée cheffe
d’Orchestre adjointe de Sir Mark Elder au Hallé Symphony
Orchestra (Royaume-Uni). « Tous nos musiciens sont primés
des plus grands concours internationaux », s’enthousiasme
Corinne Hennequin.
