What Charger
and What Option?
08
Which battery charger for which batteries?
It is absolutely necessary that the battery charger corresponds to the
battery voltage. A battery should be charged slowly and carefully. We
recommend for this reason to divide the ampere hour (Ah) capacity
of the battery by 10 to determine the correct ampere battery rating
(in Adc). This will charge 50% discharged battery within 12 hours (i.e.
overnight charge).
When are 6-volt battery chargers appropriate?
In contrast to a 12-volt battery which has 6 cells of 2 volts each,
a 6 volt a battery contains three cells of 2 volts each. Each
battery must be charged with the correct corresponding battery voltage.
Lawnmowers, scooters, mopeds children’s electric vehicles are
examples of vehicles with small voltage consumption that often use
6 volt batteries. They can also still be found in older automobiles
(old timers) because the much less sophisticated equipment from
earlier time periods had much smaller voltage consumption.
When are 24-volt battery chargers appropriate?
Larger trucks and buses almost always use 24-volt batteries, therefore
requiring the use of a 24-volt battery charger. This type of battery
charger can also be used to charge four 6-volt or two 12 volt batteries
if they are connected in series.
When is a Normal/Fast selection option appropriate?
A battery charger with a normal/fast option has two user selectable
charging currents in which the normal position is approximately half
of the fast position. For example, an 8 ampere battery charger with
a normal/fast switch delivers 8 ampere in the fast position and
approximately 4 ampere in the normal position. The fast position
provides the advantage of charging a battery quickly. Using the normal
position on the same battery the charging current will be halved resulting
in the battery being very slowly and thus very carefully charged.
The more slowly you a charge a battery the better it is for the battery.
When is an Automobile/Motorcycle option appropriate?
A battery charger with an automobile/motorcycle option has the
advantage that it can be used for car batteries as well as for
motorcycle batteries. While car batteries usually have a capacity
in the range of 36 to 88 ampere hours (Ah), motorcycle batteries
have a much smaller capacities of only 9 to 25 Ah, requiring they be
charged with a correspondingly lower charging current. ABSAAR
battery chargers are designed such that switching to the motorcycle
position delivers a 1.6A to 2.0A charging current.
When is a Jump Start option appropriate?
Almost everyone has found themselves in the embarrassing situation
of getting into their vehicle and turning the key only to have nothing
happen, usually at a moment when they are in a particular hurry.
Battery chargers with a jump start options make it possible to start
a discharged battery after only a minimal amount of charging time
by delivering a short burst of power when it is needed to start the
vehicle.
When is a fully-automatic battery charger appropriate?
Electronic (fully-automatic) battery chargers allow the battery to
be charged without the need for supervision. Simply put, unsupervised
charging means your battery cannot be overcharged. Electronic
battery chargers switch from charging mode to maintenance mode
once the desired voltage is reached to maintain the battery’s
voltage at the desired level. This type of battery charger can remain
connected to a battery for very long periods of time without risk that
the battery will be overcharged and are ideal for the winterisation or
storage of batteries. Fully-automatic battery chargers are the ideal
choice for charging and winterisation or storage of caravans, recreation
vehicles, boats, motorcycles or convertible sports cars. Depending on the
model chosen, they charge not only normal lead-acid, but also
maintenance-free, gel and AGM batteries.
When is a maintenance charger more appropriate than a battery
charger with maintenance mode?
A maintenance charger delivers a very small charging current to
maintain the charge of a battery at the maximum level of charge
(assuming the battery is at its maximum charge level when it is
connected) and is capable of remaining connected for long periods of
time without supervision. It should be selected when the desired goal
is simply to maintain the charge of a battery at its current level over
a longer period of time.
3 Zellen a 2 Volt (12 Volt Batterie 6 Zellen a 2 Volt). Jede Batterie
Man findet
