wouldn’t be complete without a royal touch. This year,
a lively photograph of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II,
Queen of Canada, taken during her most recent royal
visit to Canada, graces a PERMANENT stamp.
“Canadians look forward to The Queen’s visits,”
says Doreen Colonello, Associate Creative Director at
Gottschalk+Ash International. “So we were delighted
to feature a photograph of Her Majesty in her classic
wave pose.”
The close-up photograph is shown before a
vibrant sedum. “We strove to create a royal and serene
backdrop for The Queen, choosing this plant for its
radiating leaves and its subtle colour gradations,”
explains Colonello. “Two blue curved transparent
forms in the foreground echo the flower’s rays, and
the play between the rays in the background and the
transparency in the foreground surround The Queen
with a sense of light and warmth.”
The stamp will be cancelled in Jasper, Alberta, where
the photograph featured on the stamp was taken. )

Cette année, un timbre PERMANENT Mc est orné
d’une photo couleur de Sa Majesté la reine Elizabeth II,
Reine du Canada, prise au cours de sa plus récente
visite royale au pays.
« Les Canadiens attendent avec impatience les
visites de la souveraine », mentionne Doreen Colonello,
codirectrice de la création chez Gottschalk+Ash
International. « Nous avons été enchantés de
reproduire une photographie de Sa Majesté, dans
sa pose classique, adressant un salut de la main. »
Le cliché en gros plan est représenté contre un
splendide sedum. « Nous cherchions à dégager une
atmosphère royale empreinte de sérénité pour l’arrièrefond;
nous avons choisi cette plante aux feuilles étalées
et rapprochées et au dégradé de couleur discret »,
ajoute-t-elle. « À l’avant-plan, deux formes courbées
et transparentes en bleu se font l’écho des pétales
étoilés de la fleur. Ces plans contrastés ont pour effet
d’envelopper la Reine de lumière et de chaleur. »
Le cachet d’oblitération portera la mention
« JASPER AB », endroit où a été prise la photographie
ornant le timbre. )
