education. I urge you to seek information
and also ask other people’s
experiences who have been in this
teaching line before proceeding it
yourself. Maybe what you can do to
figure out more about this profession
is you can watch someone else in
action.
Is teaching a right job for you
You may need to ask yourself
the questions in the lists given underneath
to see if the teaching career
suits you.
Do you really enjoy teaching
Do you really like children
Do you mind making ‘a little’
money
Do you like the feeling of being
smarter than others even if
the ‘others’ are only 8 years old
kids
Do you think you could spend
some of your personal times for
others
Are you a person who is full of
patience and tolerance
If most of your answers are YES, you
may consider yourself to be a teacher.
Having been a teacher myself for
nearly almost 7 years, I always ask
myself if I still have those feelings and
once I felt de-motivated, I will ask
these questions again and again in
order to light up my spirit. Do not worry
if you may not have those feelings
yet, you will develop those feelings
once you go along the course.
The Best of Teachers.
Teachers represent a cornerstone
of our society. Once children
reach school age, they start spending
more time with their teachers
than with their parents. Teachers are
not only just imparting an education
but they are affecting the emotional,
intellectual and social development
of each student they encounter.
Teachers are really important figures
for students. As for me, even a single
teacher’s impact can be astounding.
Every teacher contributes towards
students’ success. The best thing if
you become a teacher is when you
see a bundle of joy on students’ faces
when they receive excellent results
in important examinations. You
will also be glad when seeing your
former students calling you even you
may no longer teach them. You may
not recognise them all but they still
remember you as their teacher. Even
when you are no longer teaching or
soon or later retire, people will be still
calling you as ‘Cikgu’. Those are the
things that make teachers the best.
I always respect those who
love this career. A brief saying ‘Behind
every successful person are
many successful teachers, has really
shown that teachers play a role in
producing successful people. I also
remember someone (a teacher and
a motivator) told me a
few funny lines about
teacher, quoted from a
student’s perspective,
(which I then translate
into English), saying :
Mum says a
teacher is like an instant
noodle which is the food
during difficulty,
Dad says that a
teacher is like a seeker
which is horrifying,
Grandfather says
a teacher is like the AS-
TRO, there are many
things in one,
But I say, a teacher
is like LO’REAL, because
he or she is really
valuable.
As a teacher,
I found these lines so
meaningful and touch
and I promise to myself to
be the best teacher ever
as I found as even the society
acknowledge and
put hopes on teachers.
CONCLUSION
Teaching is the right path for
those who love to take up challenges.
Not only it benefits them physically
but also emotionally. It helps teacher
to improve their inner strength, cultivate
good behaviours as well as develop
their minds.
Teachers are like candles
which burn themselves to lighting
up others and teachers of course
the noblest job ever! So why not putting
yourself in You will cherish every
single moments of it and you will not
say NO after spending a few hours
teaching. Do not wait any longer.
Choose to be a teacher and create
a positive impact for your own generation.
