Oiling the Bowden cable for gear actuation }
– Lubricate the Bowden cable every 10 hours of
operation, but at least once a month with thin mineral
oil. Slightly bend the Bowden cable in the
region of the point of lubrication for this purpose.
Checking and adjusting the Bowden cable for gear
actuation
The travel at the drive switch contact is 2 – 3 mm.
It can be adjusted by means of the adjusting
screw on the rive switch contact.
Servicing the drive
It is absolutely essential that the Bowden cable
(cf.“Oiling the Bowden cable”) is easyrunning for the
perfect functioning of the control drive.
Changing the drive V-belt
– The drive V-belt must be replaced by a
recommended expert workshop.
11. Servicing the engine
The prescribed maintenance and service work must
be performed on a regular basis to ensure long and
fault-free life of the engine.
Keep the engine clean paying particular attention
to the exterior. The perforated plate of the fan wheel
must always be kept free from particles (e.g. grass
cuttings) in particular. Never spray clean with water
as this would result in damage to the ignition system
and carburettor.
Perfect cooling of the engine will only be guaranteed
if the cylinder fins are always kept clean.
Always lay the mower on the lefthand side for
service work (tank and carburettor facing upwards)
since otherwise there could be starting difficulties.
Oil change ¯
The first oil change of a new engine is necessary
after 5 operating hours, and thereafter every 50 hours
of operation or at least once per mowing season.
– To change the oil remove the dipstick from the
filler and lay the mower on its side so that the used
oil drains into the catch tray.
– Old oil should be disposed off in accordance with the
relevant local regulations and on no account be discharged
into the sewerage system or into the ground.
– Turn the mower upright and fill approximately 0.6 l
quality oil (See Technical Data) through the filler.
Screw on dipstick and check oil level §.
Cleaning and replacing the air filter @
– Loosen the screw on the air filter cover and open
the cover downwards.
– Carefully remove the filter insert and top out on a
smooth surface or replace if very dirty.
– Never oil the insert or blow out with compressed
air. Very dirty or oily filter inserts must be replaced
(air filter insert: order no. SA26547).
– Replace the filter element in housing after cleaning
or replacing and carefully replace cover.
Under unfavourable work conditions (excessive dust)
it will be necessary to clean during mowing or every
3 months or after 25 hours of operation.
Checking the spark plug ”
To check for wear, remove the spark plug connector
and unscrew the spark plug. If the electrode is worn
badly the spark plug must be replaced. Order-no.
SA16815. Otherwise it will be sufficient to clean the spark
plug with a steel brush and to set the electrode distance
to 0.75 mm. Screw in the spark plug (pay attention to
sealing ring) into the engine by hand and tighten using
the set screw wrench. Press on spark plug connector.
Correct storage of the engine
(when not used for a long period of time)
– Let the engine run warm.
– Empty the petrol tank or allow the engine to run
until it stops due to lack of fuel
– Provided the motor is still warm, drain off the oil. Fill
with fresh oil (approx. 0.6 l, see. technical data).
– Unscrew the spark plug and fill approx. one
tablespoon motor oil into the cylinder.
– Ignite the engine using the starter several times
so that the oil is distributed evenly in the cylinder.
– Replace the spark plug.
– Pull through the starter slowly until the pressure
point is felt: the engine is now under compression,
the valves are closed, the combustion chamber is
protected against moisture.
– No guarantee is accepted for a resinified
fueland carburettor system or for rust damage
within and outside for the engine.
Remowing and re-charging the starter battery ! + "
– Re-charge the battery as described under section 5.
