Dear friends,<br />
<strong>In</strong> the name of INTERKULTUR I want to wel<strong>com</strong>e you<br />
to the 9 th <strong>In</strong>ternational Choir Competition '<strong>In</strong>...<strong>Canto</strong><br />
<strong>sul</strong> <strong>Garda</strong>”. This time we are very proud to wel<strong>com</strong>e 44<br />
choirs from 17 countries, among them such as Brazil,<br />
China or <strong>In</strong>donesia and a lot of groups from all parts of<br />
Europe. We are very contended that 11 choirs from the<br />
hosting country, Italy, join this wonderful event. Wel<strong>com</strong>e<br />
all of you to the beautiful town Riva del <strong>Garda</strong> and<br />
the incredible countryside of the Lake <strong>Garda</strong>.<br />
You all have <strong>com</strong>e to sing together, to make friends<br />
and to "build bridges" between this great variety of the<br />
different nations. And this requires the individual's readiness<br />
to learn about and to respect the culture of<br />
other people. With our INTERKULTUR events we want to<br />
make our contribution to this. Our motto “Singing together<br />
brings nations together” lives in the hearts of many<br />
singers all over the world.<br />
At this point I would like to say a big thank-you to you<br />
all, the singers, conductors, officials – to all people who<br />
made this success possible.<br />
Next year the 7 th World Choir Games Cincinnati 2012<br />
(USA) will create a further climax to the amazing series<br />
of INTERKULTUR successes. After the six wonderful<br />
events in Europa and Asia the most successful and<br />
biggest choral <strong>com</strong>petition in the world will touch the<br />
American continent for the first time. We hope that hundreds<br />
of choirs will join the World Choir Games in one<br />
of the most exciting musical cities of the USA. I already<br />
have the pleasure today of extending you our cordial<br />
invitation to Cincinnati, as well as to all of our other<br />
<strong>com</strong>petitions taking place in the years 2012 and 2013.<br />
Even if the 9 th Festival '<strong>In</strong>...<strong>Canto</strong> <strong>sul</strong> <strong>Garda</strong>" is not the<br />
World Choir Games we want to follow the Olympic idea<br />
as well, with the same principle "participation is the<br />
highest honour". <strong>In</strong> this spirit, I wel<strong>com</strong>e you to Riva<br />
del <strong>Garda</strong>, the town which has organized most of the<br />
INTERKULTUR Choir Competitions up to now.<br />
<strong>In</strong>tentionally, the main emphasis is put on Folk, Sacred<br />
Music, Jazz, Gospel and Popular Music, a mixture with<br />
a special charm.<br />
I want to thank all the hard-working assistants for their<br />
help making this choir festival an impressing experience<br />
among the events of<br />
INTERKULTUR.<br />
