2.7. – 11.7. 11. International chamber theatre Festival ‘’Zlatni lav’’, Umag<br />
The spirit <strong>of</strong> the chamber theatre in Umag has been embodied by Mr. Antonio<br />
Coslovich who has built the Al Leon d’oro hotel in the 1820 – this being the first<br />
hundred-seats- theatre <strong>of</strong> this region. It is the first example <strong>of</strong> cultural tourism in <strong>Istra</strong><br />
and therefore it was used as the basic idea for the festival.<br />
Festival «Zlatni Lav» is a contemporary theatre review upon a given /theme in within<br />
the intercultural Istrian spirit.<br />
The whole vision <strong>of</strong> the festival as a continuous project in <strong>Istra</strong> and Umag has been<br />
based uponthese three key elements:<br />
• characteristics <strong>of</strong> boundaries, similarities and differences among the Triangulum,<br />
that is the cohabitation <strong>of</strong> Croats, Slovenians and Italians<br />
• defining the festival as a theatre project that every year chooses a different theme as<br />
its main idea<br />
• enrichment <strong>of</strong> the cultural and touristic <strong>of</strong>fer <strong>of</strong> the Umag town, Istrian county and<br />
cutural tradition <strong>of</strong> Croatia<br />
