The Lessinia Film Festival Continues to Grow
On behalf of the organizing committee of the Lessinia Film Festival, it is with great pleasure
that I welcome its XIII edition, taking place in Bosco Chiesanuova August 18-26, 2007.
This event has grown from a small festival dedicated to films about the Lessinia to a large
international festival, the only one in the world dedicated exclusively to mountain life, history,
and traditions. Many different groups have contributed to the Festival's growth: the
Curatorium Cimbricum Veronense, creator and soul of the festival; various local governments
that have supported the event, in particular that of Cerro Veronese, where the festival
ran for a decade and grew into today’s impressive manifestation. Whether in the past
or present, many other organizations have also supported the festival, including the
Lessinia Mountain Community, the Natural Regional Park of the Lessinia, the Veneto
Region, the Province of Verona, the administration of Bosco Chiesanuova, the BIM Adige
Consortium, the Veronatuttintorno Consortium, and the Cassa Rurale Bassa Vallagarina
bank. This year, the festival opens a new season in its new headquarters in Bosco
Chiesanuova. The Film Festival intends to consolidate its role as this area's most important
cultural event with a new prize, appropriately called the “Lessinia d'Oro” (the Golden
Lessinia). A festival office now operates year round at the offices of the Lessinia Mountain
Community. The new Teatro Vittoria, with two film screening rooms, allows us to expand
and enrich - even from a quality standpoint - the program of films in competition. Finally,
the Film Festival represents the pinnacle event of the Voices and Lights in Lessinia theater
and music program, strongly supported by the Lessinia Mountain Community. It is
clear that the Film Festival promises rich possibilities for further growth.
