Hardwood Lumber Industry Shows Support Of HARDWOOD FOREST FOUNDATION At NHLA Annual Convention Photos By Gary and Terry Miller Las Vegas, NV–The Hardwood lumber industry proved its support of the Hardwood Forest Foundation at the recent NHLA Annual Convention & Exhibit Showcase, held here recently, through generous fundraising and giving. “It truly was a remarkable year for the Foundation and its fundraising efforts at Convention,” said Tommy MacDonald, Foundation spokesperson and Emmy nominated television woodworker. “The Annual Golf Tournament (presented by Pennsylvania & Indiana Lumbermens Mutual Insurance Companies) was the biggest yet with 89 golfers and a record number of sponsors, while the first-ever Bowling Competition (presented by Harold White Lumber) was a blast and brought in extra funding, and the work that NHLA First Lady Amy Heidler and the women of the NHLA Spouse Program did was really phenomenal through the Kits for Kids Campaign,” MacDonald added. For the first time ever the NHLA Spouse Program presented the Kits for Kids Campaign, asking Convention attendees to donate a Truth About Trees educational kit to an elementary school, with the school being chosen by either the donor or the Foundation. This drive raised more than ,000. “Members of the Hardwood industry spoke loudly through their donation to the award-winning Truth About Trees program. They obviously see the importance in the curriculum as it works to eliminate misperceptions about harvesting. The story the Foundation tells belongs to all of us and the Kits for Kids Campaign success speaks volumes on the trust the industry has in the Foundation,” MacDonald said. In addition to the Kits for Kids Campaign, the NHLA Spouse Program also hosted its Annual Book Drive to benefit Las Students of Kay Carl Elementary School and Star Nursery teamed Vegas’ Kay Carl Elementary School.
