Domestic and Imported Hardwoods Can Be Found at Adriatic Wood Products Adriatic Wood Products Inc. is a Hardwood distribution yard, located in Brooklyn, NY. By Michelle Keller Brooklyn, NY–A distributor of domestic and imported Hardwoods, Adriatic Wood Products Inc., based here, is also a manufacturer of custom and stock mouldings. The firm purchases approximately 1 million board feet of Hardwood annually including most domestic and exotic species. Offering species from A to Z, or from Ash to Zebrawood, Adriatic’s Hardwood lumber is available in thicknesses from 4/4 through 16/4, depending on the specie. When asked what sets Adriatic Wood Products apart from competitors, co-owner John Grbic said, “All of our lumber is NHLA-graded, assuring the highest quality available. Our lumber is available for delivery in the rough or milled to our customers’ specifications. Our milling facilities allow us to machine, dress, rip and resaw lumber. We are committed to service. Adriatic specializes in offering a quality product in the time frame we promise. With the capability to carve and press mouldings, we offer a lot of things in that department that other companies don’t.” Grbic continued, “We also get to know our customers and get to know what they are working on so that we can offer them the wood that works best in that particular application. It’s not just about the sale, it’s about the relationship. We serve cabinet and furniture manufacturers in our area, and I tell them don’t let that be your problem, let it be mine.” Adriatic Wood Products is one of the leading manufacturers of custom and stock mouldings in the northeastern United States. Adriatic offers a complete selection of crown mouldings, chair rails, base and door casings. Complementary accessories are also available, such as rosettes, fluted pilasters, carved capitals, corbels and appliques. From a 90,000-square-foot manufacturing facility, the operation has the capability to supply the architectural woodworking industries with many decorative components as well as quality services. Adriatic Wood Products also has the capability to sand, prime, emboss, carve and apply compo resin to most mouldings. Curved mouldings can be manufactured in wood or in flexible resin using stock or custom profiles. “Most of our designs are illustrated in our catalog,” Grbic explained. “We have the ability to reproduce any profile from either shop drawings or samples. True European craftsmanship is an established quality of Adriatic Wood Products Inc.” Moulders from Weinig and Diehl allow the company to efficiently produce mouldings for large orders. 34 OCTOBER 2018 n NATIONAL HARDWOOD MAGAZINE

As for equipment, he said, “All of our moulders are Diehl and Weinig. We also have embossing carving machines, large lumber planers and profile sanders. We have resaw capability, with which we resaw the thicker heavy boards.” The company recently added some new forklifts and are now able to make quick local deliveries with additional sprinter vans. Grbic said the addition of the vans and lifts have lowered the company’s overall energy bills and offered his valued local customers a quicker turn-around. Adriatic lumber and wood products have been utilized in some interesting places. “We’ve gotten involved in projects for the Plaza Hotel, The Ritz Carlton, and the Taj Mahal,” Grbic offered. “Some of our products have been placed in the homes of celebrities such as Madonna, Beyoncé and Jay Z.” Grbic also mentioned Adriatic installed replacement products in the Dakota building where John Lennon and Yoko Ono lived. There are a lot of samples that we do a lot of knifing for in the moulding end of it.
