Professional Builders Supply Completes Purchase of Wilmington Operations Wilmington, NC—Professional Builders Supply, located here, has closed on the .5 million purchase of the property and facility on U.S. 421, where the company moved its Wilmington operations in October 2016. PBS buys all species of Softwood lumber from a variety of suppliers, including Cypress, Southern Yellow Pine, Spruce, Engelmann Spruce/ Lodgepole Pine, Inland Red Cedar and Radiata Pine, among others. The firm bought the 10-acre property at 3941 U.S. 421, including a 50,000-square-foot facility built by McKinley Building Corp. The previous owner was Seamist Properties LLC. Professional Builders Supply sells building materials to single-family homebuilders and some multi-family customers. Founded in Raleigh in 2003, it opened a Wilmington location in 2009. The company moved from its former location on Military Cutoff Road in Wilmington to the new facility in November 2016. At the time, the company had about 30 employees; it has since added about 12 more workers. Strategically located right off the Wilmington bypass that opened in December and connects Brunswick County and New Hanover County, Professional Builders Supply has shortened the drive to its customers in Brunswick County, increasing efficiency. The recent construction boom is evident in that area, making the new location even more ideal. For more information, visit www.pb-supply.com. Brown’s True Value Begins Building New Location with Lumberyard Iowa City, IA—Brown’s True Value, headquartered here, has begun construction on a new 14,000-square-foot store in Marengo, IA. It anticipates to be moved in by mid-summer and will replace the current Marengo location. The new location will be about twice as large as the company’s current location, and the additional space will allow the store to have a lumberyard on site. A store representative stated they are carrying Pine in a variety of sizes. Owner Mark Swift said lumber would be the only new product the store will offer, and will continue to sell hardware, paint, appliances and other needs for the homebuilding market. The store will be located next to Big G Foods, a setup that’s common in cities of Marengo’s size. For more information, visit www.truevalue.com/brownstruevalue. The new facility, like all FPS branches, will carry a broad product line of lumber and panels as well as other specialty products. RETAIL REVIEW - Continued from page 34 incentive for an million investment in its lumberyard here, according to published reports. J.P. Hart Lumber stocks all common sizes, grades, species, and lengths of Softwood framing lumber, as well as engineered wood products, OSB sheathing and fascia, soffit and post products in Cedar and Fir. The tax incentive was recently modified based on the amount of the capital improvements the company is making to the Sherman facility. Originally a .5 million project with 5,000 of incentives, the scope of the project expanded to include a larger footprint on 30 acres of land and an additional investment. With the changes, Hart is seeking the maximum 5,000 it could recoup from the agreement. The company has reported the facility has already started receiving materials and likely will have a soft opening, adding the construction phase is complete. After modifying the original tax abatement, the Grayson County Commissioners approved a separate five-year abatement for the lumberyard. Under the terms of that agreement, valued at just over 0,000, commissioners agreed to abate 50 percent of the company’s property taxes over the first three years of the term, with 25 percent of the taxes abated in the remaining two years.
