2009: The Year of the Ox<br />
The Christmas Season and Tet Celebrations have finally come to an end and it’s time<br />
to start moving forward with all those New year’s resolutions.<br />
The word Buffalo stands for power. Back home, in the Netherlands, the word<br />
“buffelen”, derived from the word buffalo, not only means eating a very big amount of<br />
food at once, but also to work very hard. Easy to recognise as we see the big beasts<br />
plough through the rice-fields just outside the cities in Vietnam. For the Vietnamese,<br />
the buffalo is a significant animal, in the fields as well as on pictures on Vietnamese<br />
country life. Many Vietnamese believe those who are born in the Year of the Buffalo<br />
will be very strong, intelligent and hardworking. Well, we better get started!<br />
In this edition, Double <strong>Dutch</strong> magazine goes behind the scenes at different <strong>Dutch</strong><br />
companies that are in the transport business in Vietnam, how they make it work in a<br />
country with different values and especially different ways of doing business.<br />
Between now and the summer many activities are planned within the <strong>Dutch</strong><br />
community. This issue gives an overview of the school activities, who’s new and who<br />
has left us and the <strong>Dutch</strong> events. To name a few: the soccer derby The Netherlands –<br />
Belgium, Queen’s Day and Queen’s Night.<br />
