(2 d d, 2 99) of a Gyrophaem, which he had taken in fungi in
Jsgemborg Dyrehave near Copenhagen the 21st September 1M.
Thew specimens are very closely related to congrua, bzlt we both
consider them as belonging to a new species, which I name Gyro-
phaem Hameni.
In the female we have found no character enabling a sure
distinction from cungrua. The .male has the two outer teeth of
the 8th dorsal abdominal plate more slender, longer and incurvate.
AB a monstrosity one of the specimens has the two inner teeth
fused into one single tooth.
As Wiisthoff terms it, the genital 'organ is ngrundsatzlich
gleichu in the two species, but still there are some differences
as shown in the figure.
My experience in this genus has been that even minor dif-
ferences in the genital organ show a remarkable oonstancy, and '
should be regarded as specific characters. I believe this will turn
out to be right also in the present case.
besides the four specimens mentimed above I have in my
collectim a foreign specimen labelled "Mauglisa (the position of
which I have not been able to trace) which belongs to th~e same
species.

who is well known for his masterly and inspiring works on Danish
beetles, and to whom I owe a great debt of gratitu'd'e.
