Q. My friend told me she is going to have sex with her
boyfriend. What should I say to her?
A. If your friend wants to make this adult decision, I
would ask her if she is prepared to handle the adult consequences.
Then help her walk through the consequences.
Sexually Transmitted diseases (STD’s): Does she
understand that one in four teenagers is an active
carrier of an STD? It is infecting America.
It’s not just aids that she should be worried
about, there are over 25 viruses that manifest
themselves in over 250 ways. Many of these
diseases are not curable and she will have them
for life. That is why abstinence is the only guarantee
that you will not contract an STD.
Pregnancy: Has she considered how much her life
would change if she became pregnant? Teens
find themselves in this dilemma every day. She
would put her life on hold for many years.
Would she even consider herself to be a good
candidate for motherhood?
Emotional Scars: What the movies don’t tell you is
the other side to sex and romance. When you
give your heart over to another person through
sexual intimacy, things become complicated
and the inevitable break-up will break her heart.
Spiritual Separation: You can't expect God to be
pleased with someone deliberately disobeying
His Word. Is she willing to trade her relationship
with God for a sexual relationship with this
boy?
Ephesians 5:3 tells us, "But among you there
must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or
of any kind of impurity...because these are improper
for God's holy people."
