VIAGEM AOS ESTADOS UNIDOS DA AMÉRICA (10ª CONFERÊNCIANORTE-AMERICANA DE INVESTIGADORES E EXTENSIONISTAS DEMIRTILOS E CENTRO DE INVESTIGAÇÃO E EDUCAÇÃO EM CITRINOS)Durante os dias 2 a 16 de Junho o técnico José Mota, desta Direcção deServiços, deslocou-se aos Esta<strong>do</strong>s Uni<strong>do</strong>s da América para participar na 10ªConferência Norte-Americana de investiga<strong>do</strong>res e extensionistas de Mirtilos,que decorreu em Tifton, Georgia, e visitou o Centro de Investigação eEducação em Citrinos em Lake Alfred, Esta<strong>do</strong> da Florida.Esta visita permitiu o contacto com alguns <strong>do</strong>s melhores especialistas einvestiga<strong>do</strong>res em mirtilos <strong>do</strong>s Esta<strong>do</strong>s Uni<strong>do</strong>s e conhecer alguns <strong>do</strong>s seustrabalhos. Permitiu ainda ver a cultura no campo e visitar algumas instalaçõesde preparação, limpeza e embalagem de mirtilos.No Centro de Investigação e Educação em Citrinos foi apresenta<strong>do</strong> a váriosinvestiga<strong>do</strong>res que trabalham em diferentes áreas relacionadas com osproblemas fitossanitários desta cultura e visitou alguns campos deexperimentação. Quem o acompanhou foi o Dr. Michael Rogers, o qual cedeuferomonas e armadilhas <strong>do</strong> tipo delta para captura de adultos de lagartamineira <strong>do</strong>s citrinos (Phyllocnistis citrella - Citrus leaf miner), com o objectivo dese dar início a um trabalho de monitorização desta praga <strong>do</strong>s citrinos.Sobre esta visita aos Esta<strong>do</strong>s Uni<strong>do</strong>s da América foi elabora<strong>do</strong> um relatório, oqual foi envia<strong>do</strong>, para conhecimento, ao Exmo.
