Ett koncept för en fast fabrik togs fram inom ManuBuild. För att identifiera och optimera
ett effektivt produktionsschema för tillverkning av over 3000 enheter/år användes processsimuleringsteknik
(Flexsim). En sådan simulering visas i Figur 15 nedan.

När processen är känd och antalet variabler få behöver man inte tillgripa processsimulering.
Tabell 2 nedan visar olika typer av system och deras komplexitet. En processsimulering
används lämpligen då komplexiteten är måttlig (moderate) eller hög (high).
