nitrifying bacteria were <strong>som</strong>ewhat active then when they were inactive. Since it has been<br />

shown that the rate of nitrification was decreased in the experiments, it cannot be concluded if<br />

a more active nitrifying bacteria would increase the dissolution of MAP. The experiments<br />

does not exclude that nitrifying bacteria may h<strong>av</strong>e an outdriving force on ammonium from<br />

MAP.<br />

The investigation with anammox bacteria resulted in a more obvious increase in dissolution<br />

compared to the reference experiment with MAP and water. This illustrates that anammox<br />

bacteria h<strong>av</strong>e a positive effect on dissolution of MAP. Further, the experiments showed that<br />

crushed MAP increased the dissolution by 50 %.<br />
