kraine-Kyiv Pavilion has been part Folklorama since its<br />
beginning in 1970 and is one of the four remaining original<br />
pavilions that have consistently participated in the festival.<br />
This year, on the occasion of Canada 150, the Pavilion celebrated<br />
and highlighted the contributions of Ukrainians to the cultural<br />
fabric of Canada. As part of its popular display area, the Pavilion<br />
recognized and posthumously acknowledged 150 inspirational<br />
Ukrainian Canadians, who have contributed to Manitoba’s community.<br />
Ukraine-Kyiv Pavilion is proud to showcase talent that represents<br />
the Ukrainian community throughout Manitoba. The Pavilion,<br />
which ran August 13-19, had a different show every night,<br />
featuring performances from dance groups, choirs, and musical<br />
groups from across the province, including Anola, Arborg, Dauphin,<br />
Gimli, Oakburn, Rossdale, Selkirk, and Winnipeg. Guests<br />
were treated to continuous entertainment on both the Main Stage<br />
and in the Marketplace each evening!<br />
The Pavilion was honoured to be featured on CTV Morning<br />
Live on August 15, which made for a very early, but thrilling,<br />
morning for volunteers and the performing groups that appeared<br />
during the segments – Budmo and the Selkirk & District<br />
Ukrainian Dance School!<br />
The week of excitement was capped off by a Zabava headlined<br />
by Budmo, an emerging Ukrainian band that creates<br />
a “folk party music experience” with its take on traditional<br />
Ukrainian songs.<br />
Ukraine-Kyiv Pavilion has proven itself to be an important<br />
venue for the Ukrainian community to come together. The<br />
Pavilion often feels like a big family reunion! It is where multiple<br />
generations of family and friends spend time catching<br />
up and meeting new people, all while sharing and celebrating<br />
our culture with visitors from across Canada and the world!<br />
The Pavilion is made possible by the passion, love for culture,<br />
and incredible dedication of hundreds of volunteers,<br />
entertainers, and pavilion supporters. The Pavilion organizers<br />
would like to express their deep gratitude to everyone involved<br />
