LIAO Horng-Shing (Taiwanese, 1964)<br />

Born in Shengane, Taichung. At an early age<br />

he was influenced by his literati grandfather LU<br />

Chung-tu and cultivated a liking for literature and<br />

art. When he was a student in <strong>Chinese</strong> Culture<br />

University, he was taught by various famous artists<br />

including AU Ho-nien, CHIANG Chao-shen, WU<br />

Hsueh-jang and WONG Lui-sang and therefore<br />

had a firm groundwork experience while being able<br />

to capture the modern atmosphere. In addition<br />

to color mixtures, he sometimes used contrasting<br />

colors or primary colors. He used to won the AU<br />

Ho-nien special prize and the first prize of the<br />

<strong>Chinese</strong> Culture University art exhibition, Hwuagang<br />

Art Exhibition, Artistic Creation Award of<br />

the Department of Education, Asia Art Exhibition<br />

in Japan, Olympics Memorial Art exhibition and<br />

so on. He has already held nine personal art<br />

exhibitions after graduating from graduate school.<br />

Meanwhile he also had personal art collection<br />

published.<br />

LIN Zexu (<strong>Chinese</strong>, 1785 - 1850)<br />

LIN Zexu was a respected figure in <strong>Chinese</strong> history.<br />

He was a political figure in Mid-/Late-Qing dynasty,<br />

an advocate, a calligrapher and a poet. Born in<br />

Fujian province, Lin was a viceroy of Huguang,<br />

Shangan and Yungui and was renowned for his<br />

campaign to suppress opium consumption.<br />

LUO Fu (Taiwanese, 1928 - 2018)<br />

Born in Hunan province, LUO fu was a well<br />

respected <strong>Chinese</strong> poet. Throughout his lifetime,<br />

Luo was devoted to foreign language studies and<br />

translation. He also actively took up important<br />

roles in teaching foreign language in various<br />

institutions including Soochow University in<br />

Taiwan and Beijing Normal Universities. His poems<br />

received high recognition and he was ranked first<br />

among Taiwan's Top 10 poets in 2001, and earned<br />

a Lifelong Honorary Recognition medal from the<br />

<strong>Chinese</strong> Writer's & Artist's Association.<br />
