Theatre Company: A solution or a camouflage for the problem of
theatre
A survey of the role of theatre companies within the structure of
Iranian theatre today

Abstract
The formation of theatre companies is now being introduced as a
solution to the current issues of theatre in Iran. Some of these issues
are proclaimed to be lack of job security and the required
environment to employ the artistic forces. But other problems such
as the process of commercialization of theatre, lack of public
sector’s support and the absence of anefficient union is now facing
the Iranian theatre. Eventually, the inability to reach a correct
analysis and grasping the roots of the current issues has become a
huge obstacle on the way towards finding a solution, defining the
demands and presenting a thorough method for pursuing these
demands. On the other hand, superficial and incompetent analysis
of current situation will not improve it, if not escalate it. The
purpose of this article is to exhibit an analysis of current situation of
the theatre in Iran and the role of theatre company within its
structure.
Goals:
- Analyzing the current structure of Iranian theatre from financial
aspect.
- Examining the theatre company as a theatrical entity within the
financial structure of theatre.
