Kids time

So you’re visiting with your children –

welcome! Many places will already have

something prepared for them (crayons,

blackboards etc), but here’s a few places

that will let your youngsters enjoy even

more while you nibble & sip.

Wine

Long for its wines Slovenia has been

known and we serve them in pretty

much every single bar, restaurant and

cafe. But some establishments delve

into the subject more and bring you

more flavors that go beyond malvazija,

refošk, haložan, janževec and cabernet

sauvignon. There are three wine growing

regions in Slovenia as well as the

oldest vine in the world so they deserve

to be tested out more in-depth. Along

with some nice snacks. Check out Šuklje,

Movia, Dvorni bar.

Specialty drink shops

If you hadn’t made the mistake by

coming to Slovenia only with your hand

luggage, or have the advantage of travelling

by train, bus or car, you won’t regret

visiting these venues that offer a

great selection of fine Slovenian wines,

craftbeer, liqueurs, spirits and, yes, also

whiskey. Check out Single bled (whiskey),

Že v redu, Primož (craftbeer),

Pivoljub (craftbeer), Za popen’t (craftbeer),

Dvorni bar (wine), Dekanter

(wine), Balthazar (wine), Štorija (wine),

E-vino (wine).

Go beyond downtown

Ljubljana is much more than just the

city centre district, so why limit yourself

only to those (albeit fabulous) couple of

blocks? Do not be afraid to venture out,

maybe sit on a random bus number (like

one of our interviewees suggests) and

exit a couple of stations of you city centre

comfort zone. We’ve picked some

noteworthy spots also outside of the pedestrian

zone that really, really show you

how and locals dine and enjoy a cuppa.
