When mason Joseph Clifford decided to
acquire some form of storage to house
material for his jobs, it was purely for his own
convenience. When other masons started
submitting requests for him to stock materials
for their own jobs Clifford Stone and
Material Company was formed. Fifty-one
years later, the company is a five-acre
property that stocks over 400 different types
of material and has its own fleet of trucks,
fork lifts, delivery trailers and masonry
equipment. The company’s community
outreach includes donations to Habitat for
Humanity, local Fire and Police Departments,
as well as area events and festivals.
Gil Drug Company, Inc. has been a part of
the Valparaiso landscape for the past 50 years
and has an unmistakable small-town charm.
The drug store is owned by Gilbert Turlicher
and at one time sold everything from
paint to soda from a vintage soda fountain.
Gil Drugs sponsors a number of charitable
organizations, such as the Porter County
American Cancer Society, local schools,
athletic teams and churches.
Kent Heating and Air Conditioning, Inc.
was founded in 1954 by James Kent and is
currently owned and operated by his son
Allen. The company is an active community
partner which donates labor and materials
to replace and repair heating and cooling
systems for the less fortunate through such
programs as ‘Christmas in April’ and
‘Rebuilding Together.’
