Role of agency overall Works with young people at risk of offending or<br />
already in the criminal justice system and their<br />
families to prevent offending through a multiagency<br />
approach. The YOS uses quality and<br />
timely assessments to understand young people’s<br />
needs, meets the needs of young people through<br />
delivering excellent intervention plans and gives<br />
young people clear boundaries by enforcing<br />
National Standards.<br />
Role of agency in addressing The YOS have a full time drug worker based in the<br />
drug use by young people team, seconded by ACAPS, they work with<br />
other YOS staff to help young people overcome<br />
substance misuse problems that may be a risk<br />
factor in their offending behaviour.<br />
The YOS also have a substance misuse worker<br />
based at the Resettlement and Aftercare Provision<br />
(RAP) at Wynne Road. This is a voluntary<br />
programme for young people who have been in<br />
custody and may have drug or alcohol related<br />
<br />
leisure opportunities, education training and<br />
employment assistance, housing advice and<br />
counselling. There may be scope to offer this to all<br />
YOS clients in the future.<br />
