Technical Help from Tech Corner
Testing and replacement procedures for Discs and Pads
• Always make sure the hub mounting face is perfectly clean and true.
• TRW discs have black painted edges, and do not require cleaning before fitting
Once fitted always check for “run-out” using a DTI gauge. Run-out limits are so
small they cannot be seen by the human eye!
• Before fitting the brake pads, ensure the caliper is clean, especially the guide pins,
and everything is working and moving freely. Sticking calipers are one of the main
causes of brake judder.
• DO NOT use copper grease on any braking component.
• TRW brake pads have our unique Cotec
surface treatment which shortens the
stopping distance immediately after
fitting by up to seven metres making
it safer for your customers to drive
away from your workshop.
