What do the words tell us?<br />
1. Read this limerick.<br />
There was an old man on the moon<br />
who liked to sing a tune.<br />
It made him quite sad<br />
to find the atmosphere was bad<br />
<strong>and</strong> no-one could hear him croon!<br />
The words in bold print tell us more about the noun. The words ‘an’ <strong>and</strong><br />
‘a’ tell us that it could be any old man singing any tune! ‘The’ tells us<br />
that it is a particular moon with a particular atmosphere.<br />
